Just surprised that HA would even do that kind of offer.
again, when the AI thinks the offer is too backloaded it will tell you. i offered it expecting to get that prompt, but in all honesty the bonus is absurd, and again, nearly double what the player was asking for. yes, our rule is you can't do more than double the salary from one year to the next, but when you're nearly doubling the bonus, giving the player more guaranteed money than any player probably has received - a silly rule shouldn't get in the way. and again, i'm assuming the AI won't even allow something absurd to even be offered, i'm assuming that if the AI considers an offer then it was in some way valid.

i'm taking all the risk here.

question - i no longer want to offer any type of extension at this point. how do i go about voiding this. this is as unfair to me as is it to the player. there is very little rengotiating you can do in this game. i didn't want to give Collela the contract he wanted. if he wants to be on the Heroes he's going to get a huge bonus, but he's not going to be paid $18million a year. we can't be competitive with someone making that much, most of all someone who'd be a 14 yr vet. i also don't want to give him a 6 yr deal. so where do we go from here? i don't mind giving him the max bonus - $34million - but i will not give him the salary he wants. i'm the owner of the team, he's not.

is there any way the last stage can be redone? i simply won't resign him to a deal. i don't want him on my team if it's going to cost this much. i'll simply franchise him or trade him.

commish can void FA deals, hopefully it works the same for contract extensions.

there's likely no way i will resign Collela to something else. i'm fine with the consequences that result, up to and including me no longer being in the IFL. sometimes them's the breaks. i have no prob voiding the deal and starting from scratch or even losing draft picks not involving my 1st rounder, but i will not tack on more signing bonus to his already obscene $32million bonus just to get him to resign a deal he accepted and a deal the game didn't view as being backloaded.

Was one of the first things I looked at. Voiding his contract would make him a free agent and screw everything up.

If that's the way you feel, then you might as well start packing.

                      • i will think this over, but if you void the contract/release him will he not resign with me due to that "past injustices" thing? i would at least like the opportunity to resign him if you were to make him a FA. if he ain't gonna want to talk to us anymore i need to think it over a sec.

You're putting way too much stock into the AI. It doesn't take much playing around to see that you can't rely on the AI to police contracts.

i wasn't expecting that offer to go through. i went from $2million in the 4th year to $14million in the last year. how is that not backloading? why would the AI take that offer into consideration and on top of that accept it?
