  • APRIL 10TH: Marlins (2-5) Vs Padres (1-6)
It was a close game until the 8th when Seanez and Hillman would combine to give up 6 runs over the final two innings. The lone bright spot was Chuck Smith giving 7 decent innings and Dave Nilssons 2 run homer.
Final Score: Padres 10 Marlins 3

    APRIL 11TH: Marlins (2-6) Vs Padres (2-6)
Today was a pretty awesome pitching duel between Andy Benes and Tony Saunders that was tied at 1 until our pen gave up and 8th inning run and that was that. Shumpert hit a homer for our only scoring.
Final Score: Padres 2 Marlins 1

    APRIL 12TH: Marlins (2-7) Vs Padres (3-6)
Seminara gave up 5 thru 5. Our bullpen was shit again. A Gaetti homer was our only offense. We suck bad right now. Our team ERA is 7.88. Yikes.
Final Score: Padres 8 Marlins 1

    • APRIL 13TH: Marlins (2-8) Vs Braves (6-4)
Reynoso threw 6 innings of 4 run ball and we scrapped but ultimately Glavine and the Braves pen, capped off by Trevor Hoffman, were too much as lost our 8th in a row.
Final Score: Braves 5 Marlins 3

      APRIL 14TH: Marlins (2-9) Vs Braves (7-4)
Bryn Smith gave up 4 over 6 innings and Smoltz totaly held us down until the 9th when we got 3 runs, 2 of which came off a Vinny Castilla homer but we were never really in it. Rudy Seanez gave up 2 more runs and he's about to be demoted.
Final Score: Braves 6 Marlins 3

      APRIL 15TH: Marlins (2-10) Vs Braves (8-4)
Chuck Smith gave up 4 1st inning runs but settled down to throw 7 good innings. The problem once more is that we can't score as Millwood & their pen shut us down. Hillman gave up 4 9th inning runs to continue our dissasterous relief efforts.
Final Score: Braves 8 Marlins 2

      APRIL 16TH: OFF DAY

APRIL 16TH: INJURY & TRANSACTION NEWS
Tanana will be activated tommorow and start tommorows game. Reynoso will head back to AAA. I'm not gonna make any roster moves yet but all of our bullpen is on notice, they've been dreadfull. As far as our lineup goes, McGee and Castilla have struggled mightily but i'm not gonna panic just yet, although 2-11 is good reason to panic.

      • APRIL 17TH: Marlins (2-11) At Giants (9-4)
Tanana threw 7 innings of 2 run ball, allowing only a 2 run Barry Bonds homer and we were tied at 2 after seven innings against Bill Swift. Gene Larkin got a pinch hit 2 out RBI single in the 8th to give us the lead. Bedrosian came in in the 9th but a Nilsson throwing error on a sacrafice attempt allowed the tying run to score. Goodwin then hit an RBI single in the top of the 10th to give us the lead back. A Gaetti error in the bottom of the inning helped them tie the score again. Oy. Finaly in the 13th inning at the end of our pen again, Heredia gave up the game winning hit and we lose our 11th in a row.
Final Score: Giants 5 Marlins 4 (13 Innings)

APRIL 17TH: INJURY & ROSTER NEWS
Bryn Smith punch a wall after todays game and broke his finger. Awesome. We DL him and call Reynoso back up to take his spot in the rotation. This is getting sad.

        APRIL 18TH: Marlins (2-12) At Giants (10-4)
Down 2-1 in the eigth, Nilsson jacked a 3 run homer off of Bryan Hickerson in relief of Dave Burba to give us a 4-2 lead.
Saunders threw 8 strong innings and in the ninth we brought in the least worn out of our reliever, Manzanillo, and he set the Giants down in order to get the save and break our losing streak.
Final Score: Marlins 4 Giants 2

APRIL 18TH: INJURY & ROSTER NEWS
Tests done on Steve Bedrosians hand show he has a broken bone. So he's out for a couple of weeks.
We DL him and call up AJ Sager. We'll go with a closer by commitee I guess.

        APRIL 19TH: Marlins (3-12) At Giants (10-5)
Back to the grindstone as Russ Ortiz shut us out on 3 hits wasting a good performance from Frank Seminara and our bullpen.
Final Score: Giants 2 Marlins 0

        • APRIL 20TH: Marlins (3-13) At Phillies (5-12)
Reynoso gave up 5 thru 5 but we came from 5-1 down to tie it thanks in part to a 2 run homer from Castilla. Seanez gave up the go ahead run in the 7th however and they're bullpen shut us down from there.
Final Score: Phillies 6 Marlins 5

          APRIL 21ST: Marlins (3-14) At Phillies (6-12)
Chuck Smith needed 130 pitches to get thru 7 innings. He's way too wild, walking 7 and striking out 9 but only giving up 1 run on 2 hits and leaving with a 3-1 lead. Heredia & Candaleria closed it out to secure the win.
Final Score: Marlins 3 Phillies 1

          APRIL 22ND: Marlins (4-14) At Phillies (6-13)
Tanana went 7, giving up just 3 runs but Jose Deleon pretty much shut us down. Our offensive highlite was a Guillen homer.
Final Score: Phillies 3 Marlins 2

          APRIL 22ND: LINEUP NEWS
Gonna make some changes here. My order will now be Cora, Guillen, Goodwin, Nilsson, Vanderwall, McGee, Castilla, Gaetti.

          • APRIL 23RD: Marlins (4-15) Vs Rockies (6-13)
Saunders left after 6 innings with a 4-3 lead but Manzanillo had a bad eigth and gave up the lead and Reardon closed us out.
Nilsson had 3 hits and Guillen had 2 RBI.
Final Score: Rockies 6 Marlins 4

            APRIL 24TH: Marlins (4-16) Vs Rockies (7-13)
Seminara threw 8 innings of 2 run ball. Vanderwall hit a 3 run homer and Goodwin had 2 RBI as we rolled to a win. Yippee.
Final Score: Marlins 6 Rockies 2

            APRIL 25TH: Marlins (5-16) Vs Rockies (7-14)
Reynoso right before the game complained of chest tightness so we had Chuck Smith make an emergency start and he did a good job of allowing just 3 runs in 6 innings. We trailed most of the way but tied it in the bottom of the 8th. Unfortunately we brought in Candelaria specificaly to face Helton and he allowed a 2 run double to him and that was that.
Final Score: Rockies 5 Marlins 3

            APRIL 25TH: INJURY NEWS
Reynoso has chest tightness. Tanana and Saunders will move up a day and pitch on 4 days rest and Reynoso should be good to go after those guys.
Vinny Castilla has a finger blister that will keep him out a few days.
Shumpert has a sore hamstring so we're gonna be short for the next couple of days.
AJ Sager has a strained ankle that will force him to miss a couple of games as well.

            APRIL 26TH: Marlins (5-17) Vs Rockies (8-14)
Tanana allowed just 2 runs in 7 innings. Santovenia hit a 3 run double and Heredia pitched a scoreless ninth for a save.
Final Score: Marlins 5 Rockies 2

APRIL 26TH: INJURY & TRANSACTION NEWS
We continue to get banged up all over. Gaetti has a sprained ankle that will keep him out about a week and Joey Cora has a bruised collar bone that will also keep him out at least a week. With so many injuries we have to make some moves.
We DL Gaetti & Cora and call up Phil Hiatt and Esteban Beltre.
I'm not really sure how our lineup will look but i imagine Goodwin and/or McGee will move back to the top of the order.
John Candelaria has a finger blister and is unavailable for a few days as well. Oy.

Saunders got rocked for 7 runs in 4 innings. Hillman pitched ok till he tired in his third inning of work. Mullholand pretty much shut us down. Beltre did hit a homer and have 2 hits but we just got blown out.
Final Score: Mets 10 Marlins 3

              APRIL 28TH: Marlins (6-18) At Mets (19-5)

Final Score: Mets 10 Marlins 2

              APRIL 29TH: Marlins (6-19) At Mets (20-5)
Saberhagen shut us down thus negating Seminaras 6 inning, 2 run performance.
Final Score: Mets 4 Marlins 1

Saunders gave up four runs over 6+ innings and Smoltz allowed just a 9th inning Vanderwall homer as he schooled us.
Final Score: Braves 4 Marlins 1

                          MAY 5TH: Marlins (8-22) At Braves (22-9)
Seminara struggled thru 5+ innings and Danny Cox did a pretty good job on us as we never really got close.
Final Score: Braves 7 Marlins 3

                          MAY 6TH: Marlins (8-23) At Braves (23-9)
Chuck Smith only made it thru 5 innings giving up 7 walks and 3 runs. He's way to erratic. Greg Maddux shut us out on 5 hits. So that's that.
Final Score: Braves 3 Marlins 9

MAY 7TH: ROSTER & TRANSACTION NEWS

                          Trade
We send Willie McGee and prospect 2B Quilvio Veras 60/78 to Milwaukee in exchange for 1B Eric Karros who is 26 and rated 77/77. Karros won the rookie of the year in 1992 and belted 26 homers last year but has been traded twice now in 3 full seasons and is hitting just .235 with 5 homers this year. He's a real solid player but eligable for arbitration after this season and may have some personality issues that have Milwaukee so invested in dumping him so quickly. On our end we give up McGee who has been awfull this year and we also clear his salary but Veras is a solid prospect. This is a calculated risk on our part that could help add some much needed pop to our lineup.

Gene Larkin will step in as our everyday Right Fielder.

                          Roster Move
It's time Everett, Green, Ordonez & Cordero all to move up to AAA.

Karros payed immediate dividens, going 2-4 with a HR. Bryn Smith went 7 great innings outdueling Kevin Gross and Candelaria & Bedrosian wrapped it up. Nice win.

                            MAY 10TH: Marlins (9-25) Vs Dodgers (16-18)
Saunders pitched 6+ innings of good ball and we got some late runs thanks to good hitting and bad Dodger defense. Bedrosian worked a 1-2-3 ninth for the save and we take 2 of 3 from the Dodgers in a pretty impressive showing.
Final Score: Marlins 4 Dodgers 3
