This is a known issue with 2k7. We put a vote to this 2 seasons ago (last year negotiations) and turned it down.
a commish controlled salary cap would be next to impossible to keep track of because of bonus money which counts against the cap as guaranteed money


we could just not allow any team to re sign their players. Make every FA class a gold mine

I thought of that after I wrote it. It wasn't a knock on this league at all. The IFL is a very good league that has been around for a while thanks to a good group of core GM's

I think your wrong on this point. It is this particular league. Can you list me a handful of other online multiplayer leagues haveing this bad of a cap problem using the FOF game? Like I said the single player game doesnt even play like this. This seems to me to be IFL specific.

The 5 leagues I'm in have the same issue.

yeah, i would just chalk it up to a bug in the game that can't be fixed without extensive outside manipulating, which ruins the fun for those having to do that work. commish's already do enough, i'm not willing to volunteer them for more work.

just accept it as a limitation in the game that doesn't put anyone at any advantage/disadvantage. when you see studs in the draft you have to pounce and aquire them cuz then you get to have exclusive negotiating rights with them. this league isn't won or lost based on who you pick up in free agency. its who you draft. Tulsa is where it is now cuz they drafted QB Sanford, RB Singleton, WR Chris Andrews and traded for WR Albricksten. not cuz they had a ton of money in cap space to spend on uber studs. there are never studs in FA cuz people have money to resign them to new deals. if you couldn't resign the guy you'd simply trade him to some team that could and at least get some compensation for him.

so the moral of the story is make your moves and aquire the studs while they're still in the draft pool, get them on your team and keep them for as long as you like and use your cap money on resigning your own studs. you gotta get the studs first though.

Reguardless its not how large the offers are its the amount of money people have to make the large offers. the Salary Cap is non existant making our Free Agent market non existant. Which in turn makes the off season nothing but resign who you want n need check for someone elses garbage and see if you can bid 20 mil for it. Then draft and repeat. In a league with a Real Sal Cap there would be some big names on the market teams needing to re do their contracts to fit their stars in their cap strategic stuff that GMs have to do all the time. Instead this new version of the game for whatever reason cause in the single player mode you start a season from scratch the sal cap finance system works but i guess it might be importing 04 into the new game but reguardless this new version of the game is on easy mode where the game isnt challenging no players will ever trade hands if you have a dynasty dont worry cause there will be no competition for your players when their contract is up and no shortage of money to over pay them so they stay and dont go to FA market. It will take a totally destroyed team in this league like 10 seasons of drafting to become good. because the good teams with the good players will never lose 1 good player they want... BLANK CHECKS OPEN CHECK BOOK finace. Highly unrealistic. Anyways lets not explore ways to fix this issue lets bury it under the rug because people dont want to actually improve what is obviously something broken.

Just to let you know that Dakota's cap space was intentional. They were in the process of rebuilding. They were set up for multiple draft picks over a 3 year spread, with numerous re-negotiations to increase cap space so that those new contracts wouldn't put a strain, ala Oakland back in the day, plus, be able to go after some FA's. I have intentionally kept my comments about this to a minimum. I have my own issues in Reno.

But, tis true, Jeff saw this coming, but we said "no" to his idea in a vote. We reap what we sow. Game is flawed. GM's are great. I'm back for a reason and its not FOF.

I was talking about the last year reneg rule a couple pages ago. We're doing it in the NAFL for maybe 4-5 seasons. We also put the salary cap raise very low in the last contract. We also have a rule that prevent teams to give 1 year contract to players asking for 3 years contract in the first 8 weeks of free agency.

And here's the result. It's the cap numbers before free agency.

I was the one who were looking at every damn contract to see if everything was ok and let me tell you that it takes a lot of time. I'm not the one who will do that here.

As for the "put the injury setting to the roof" rule. I think it takes all the fun out of this game if we have 1 or 2 carreer ending injury in our team each year. I think that letting EVERY players hit free agency would be totally ridiculous and I would be out of here the second a rule like that would be enforced.

If somebody has a good idea that is not complicated to enforced, I would be happy to try it, but I don't see it right now. No matter what we do, there will not be 9-10 stars in free agency. People will only cut more crappy players to make room for their stars or they will trade em.

its obvious the limitation in FOF is it doesn't handle financials so well, and it probably didn't have too much time spent on the economics of a league since stat generation is its obvious strong point. you just gotta accept that the way to get and keep players is not via free agency but through the draft and trading. it's impossible to have a text sim that perfectly models the real world.

By the way, me having the most 'previous first rounders' on my squad, I dont have ANY friggin cap room to work with. Ask this question again in a few years when you are trying to renegotiate 3 high first round draft picks. I'd suck HA's cock to have even 10 Mill in 'free' cap space.
