just accept it as a limitation in the game that doesn't put anyone at any advantage/disadvantage. when you see studs in the draft you have to pounce and aquire them cuz then you get to have exclusive negotiating rights with them. this league isn't won or lost based on who you pick up in free agency. its who you draft. Tulsa is where it is now cuz they drafted QB Sanford, RB Singleton, WR Chris Andrews and traded for WR Albricksten. not cuz they had a ton of money in cap space to spend on uber studs. there are never studs in FA cuz people have money to resign them to new deals. if you couldn't resign the guy you'd simply trade him to some team that could and at least get some compensation for him.

so the moral of the story is make your moves and aquire the studs while they're still in the draft pool, get them on your team and keep them for as long as you like and use your cap money on resigning your own studs. you gotta get the studs first though.

Then there needs to be a patch for the game. Or Frankly I much prefer the 04 version of the game. But eitherway Im stuck with what I am stuck with. Yippee.

        It really really is.

I will try to find a solution.

and as far as the outsized contracts go I put a value on Garrett otherwise I would not have made the offer. Houston did the same. Its all fair.

I wasn't too thrilled that I had to make an offer like that for a backup RB, but after the first round and watching all my realistic offers get blown out the window, I had to do what I had to do. Even then I got out-bid and lost.

It is just disgusting. I dont remember this game ever being this bad financially.

            • Do players look at other players when dealing with contracts? If so, maybe we should add a salary floor to force teams to spend on players. Yes, they would have to overpay based on the demands of guys, but it would increase the spending a bit.

              • Is there any Solid Fact that if we lowered the cap increase for x amount of seasons that the inflation in player salaries would also decrease? I want some proof thats how that works cause if its not we have a simple solution of turning off / turning down the cap increase for several seasons and letting the Player salaries gradually catch up.

I mean this would still mean we are 5 seasons off from being proper but Atleast it would be proper in the long run.

No offense dude, but...stop stressing about the cap and just play the game. I have fun every year, try to draft intelligently, grab a few hidden gems in FA, and call it good. I win some, I lose some, but I am having fun.

I'm not going to vote for sweeping changes to the way we do things because you don't like it. If you don't like the league, if your not having fun, then leave? Just play the game bro, relax......

quit makeing this out to be im the only one who has a problem with it and the changes would be for JUST me. handful of people have already stepped up and it seems to be a hot topic in other leagues. so please Off my back. I will play reguardless but I think the greater expirence in a sim comes in simulating being a GM.

I would like to quote this guy over at FOFC

"well, the cap is an integral part of the game. Managing your cap is actually kind of the point of the game."

Anyways I think I have a theroy on how this problem develops. If you ever (and stop criticizing my bringing up SP) but If you ever played SP game say the 04 version and went 11 seasons in. players are asking alot more base salary then 700k. I think Importing a League from 04 to 2k7 has some how Fkd the Salary inflation system the game is suppose to use. The players arent asking for the money they should be and the cap is just going up and up and up. Just listen for a second and think of this. It was a new game. It probably brought the salaries in a league that had run 8 years of finances back to what they WOULD be in 2007 but not what they SHOULD be in a league thats run 8 years. Ya Dig what im sayin? When we imported the League over here I think it set the Salary inflation back to what would be realistic if you were starting a new league in 2007 which doesnt go with what the salary inflation would be after playing the game 8 seasons on 04. I really believe this because gentlemen if you go start a league from scratch on 2k7 it NEVER gets like this.

Im not stateing a solution here I am just putting out a theroy. I will post on FOFC and See what all is said about how it actually does glitch out like this. No I dont think this is the games fault whatsoever because new leagues dont have this problem. I think the finances get douped when importing a long existing league like this one into the new game.

                    • Well its an issue, but I for one, being only a lowley temp GM, think the Commissioners have enough to handle and it is not a task I would want. Anyways if there could be a simple rule that would help then I say vote on it and start it when the EoS button is pressed. Gives Us/yall plenty of time to discuss it.

I think the no renegotiation till last season is simple and everyone could be a watchdog for it. If the player is not a FA or it does not say 1yr under contract on the scout overview page then no contract. Injured/Blind/hooked on tobbacco whatever no contract talks.

Might not be a big help but at least it is simple.

                      • The problem isn't wanting MORE Free Agents because thats just gonna turn it into who can offer that hot shot a 40 million dollar deal when his value is probably 12 mil. The Problem is to fix everyones in game budget.

                        • Real quick point. The single player financial model is just as broken. I actually play the single player a lot. Which I know can be very masochistic, but whatever. Anyways, I have played teams into the 100 season range and I always have tons of cap space. In fact I just checked my current team and we have 53 guys on our roster with $30 million free. I wish I had that roster in the IFL.

                              To Clarify

We have a league thats going into what its 12th season? and how many have been played on the new game? I dont know I will example 2-3 seasons. I think we have a Sal cap that fits a 12th season league but I think the player Salary inflation/demand is 9-10 seasons behind via going to the new game.
