I mean try playing the single player game and see if you can set the cap 2-8 mil like the game defaults and tell me if you can sign a running back 2 years 17 mil and still squeeze under the cap all the time. fact is not only does this ruin the quality of free agents we see in the market every year no big ones whatsoever but it also allows people to Grossly over pay the few decent ones we do see and then reneg the contract down so they dont ever have to honor as much as they once offered. You know I seen a free agent on the market tonight he is asking for 700,000 someone is offering 3 years 15 mil. I mean if you dont think this is unrealistic and just WOW then hey I pitty you. I do gurantee you you will be one of the few hand ful who agree with the current system and dont want change. The Majority can understand that the current system is really flawed and needs to be discussed.
    I removed the insult.

The single player game has nothing to do with our league and is pitiful AI.

A player can't restructure signing bonus and bonus holds a lot of weight in the FA process so the winning bid shouldn't be easily restructured. The responsibility lies on the non-bidding teams again in this instance.

The FA you mention asking for $700k and getting $15M: $15M is the market value. $700k is absolutely meaningless.

Unrealistic? Everyone can pick and choose how they want this fictitious game to match up with what they think reality is. I just know that it's fair since we all play by the same rules.

As I've stated I do want to cut the cap increase. I've said this for 11 seasons. But it's not gonna be the stud player free for all that people are expecting. The teams that draft well are still gonna draft the better players and resign them early on like good GMs do.

We'll have the opportunity to change it in the near future. This past one was very high.

I've never understood this argument. Every team here is playing the same game. What he can do you can do I can do. Changing the cap will do nothing, I can make the cap increase 0 and salary requests will stay exactly as they are right now, it wont "right" itself.

So do tell me who jacked the Cap setting up at the outstart of this league to begin with. Cause really I dont care if we are playing at the same level its like baseball out here blank checks to everyone let me offer 15 mil to people worth 700k so other people cant get them etc. put a vote up i bet you 20 out of 32 owners thinks that this economy is an issue and im not talking about the US economy.

how can you not understand how it ruins our free agent class every year. I can.

Everyone plays under the same rules dont make them good rules.

How can you not see the player's "worth" is not 700k because you want it to be but in fact is $15M because someone else is willing to pay that?

Where do you get this $700k value and why do you think it sets the precedent?

You've been here 1 FA class and I thought the FA class was pretty decent this year. You want studs available every year?

There are a ton of good players available in FA this year. The amount of whom determine market value. If Garret was deemed far and away the best running back available, regardless of his ratings, then yes, he will be overpaid accoring to his ratings. It's called market value.

Listen, there's alot wrong with the game from many perspectives, but it's the game we're all playing.

looks like most the owners who have been on tonight agree. I think it would just be ignorant to not have an open discussion about it since it seems that the majority of the league would agree that it is in some way shape or form a problem.

It looks like it's 3-2 actually. But again, that's not the issue. The cap and salary situation is what it is, you can't turn it off and have things magicaly right themselves. I put the cap increase to the minimumand things will stay exactly how they are, it wont get better.

I understand you want to bury it under the rug and hide it because now that its this bad you dont have a plan to fix it but we could still discuss it and possible resolutions.

well then is there anyway to manually edit the cap down? outside of the game like via the game code.

its 3-2 cause only 5 people have been on tonight.

and you guys run the league so of course your gonna defend what direction it has gone in.

Bury it under the rug? I'm sitting here discussing it with you. I don't exactly like your tone but i'm not gonna feisty with you yet. We are discussing it right now and i'm telling you again that what you see as a problem is not fixable in game. Salary requests are directly related to the cap number, no matter what it is.

                              No there is not.

That's rather odd logic. You said a large majority have agreed with your assesment, im showing you, with numbers, that that is not, in fact, the case.

                              And who are "you guys"?

Again with a personal attack. I don't mind the direction it has gone, no. In fact I quite enjoy it and that has nothing to do with the fact that I "run" it. I've made almost zero unilateral decisions since Matt and I have taken over. In fact i've implemented things I didn't neccesarily want as an owner because the majority of the other owners did. This is not a dictatorship and I am open to any and all suggestions. However you're idea of manipulating the cap will not work, not because I somehow don't want it too, but because it simply wont.

this might aswell be the old days with no free agency then. hurrah for the 50 rated players on the market. hurrah for the 15 million dollar contracts to players who are personally asking for 700,000. and god damnit. If its unfixable its unfixable but to say you think this system is good for the league is just plain nuts in my own opinion.

So It would be cool if I bid 30 million on a 48-48 running back just to get him off the market and then renegged his contract down? So basically whoever holds the most cap space for whatever reason can basically get any ONE player they want n fix their cap at a later time.
