Wow! It's really hard to assume "my way" is the MP way and tell others they don't belong.

    Like Carl Wing?

"Jester, I'm interested in Carl Wing"

(After wasting time to look over a roster of nowhere-near-Wing-talent knowing full well you had no 1st round pick in the next decade) No problem I just need equal value at X,X, or X position.

"I can't do that. But if it's a M2M corner that you want (something Jester never said nor thought) how about a 12 year veteran CB with less skills?"

Uhh, no, I need actual value.

    "I can't do that."

I'm sorry you evidently feel I'm laughing at you. I'm not.

I'm not very impressed at all with what you've done. Focusing on one season at the expense of others has never impressed me and never will. Winning consistently ala Norfolk does.

This WAS true. A little old now.

And I'm not saying that you're right or wrong. You're simply willing to look like an asshole and I try for the most part to stay away from it.

I would never stoop to offering some of the deals that I've seen you make as it's insulting to the other GM IMO. Just as all highlight reels can also be seen as a mistake NONE of your "moves" happen against good negotiators so I don't know how you can take credit for them. Outbidding the league for an "over-rated" 49 ovr HB that takes you to the Conference Championships is far more impressive IMO. Coercing GMs behind the scenes and blackballing anyone sensible on some list - not so much.

I'll agree with this (within reason on the conducting a trade part - "anything goes" leagues suck).

I would have like to see this trade enriched with different opinions of what some other GMs would have offered.

Of course that's the "fair play" part of me talking. The Phantom Phan loves this trade! I wanna marry this trade and have little trades just like it running around.

I totally see your point. I just think that, IMO, you jumped the gun a little and didn't get full value. Edwards will develop into an elite CB, and injuries will not be a problem for him. Call me an optimist.

Since, I traded him I totally disagree with you. If he becomes elite then I will look like a moron for about 7-9 seasons. I am hoping that does not happen since I am sure the Edwards Project will be watched for some time.

I would have been interested in him. My roster (what I could offer and cap space) would've had to be looked at more closely post-conversion so I can't say for sure I would've made an offer but the odds are good.

haha - I just realized you were on the opposite side (trading partner-wise) of this argument with Connell. I remember seeing that he was on the block and the next thread he was now on your team.

                  Couple of general points:

                  - Nobody should be afraid to PM someone about trades, even if the player isn't on the block

                  - Lets make the playoffs once before we start sucking our own d's about what a great system we have

                  - Try to keep your players on the market for a little while. Even if you think he sucks, a lot of people value different things in players

                  - It's ironic that Jeff is lecturing anyone on the value of WR's. Would he have given more than three first round picks for Edwards?

                  - Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is hilarious. "You're going the wrong way!" "How do they know where we're going?"

FWIW, Jave didn't go as far as telling me he wanted his team back. He desired to get back into the league and it only made sense for him to take over his old team. His old team that had a franchise QB already as mentioned.

I was actually set to take over Vancouver until spunky dropped out. So yes, I took Portland over Vancouver. I can try and convince you all I want that Caro was not a key factor in that decision, but you probably wouldn't believe me anyways.

at no point since i've been here have you ever had anything to do with the studs on your team. as far as i can see you've been handed the stars by being opportunistic by replacing one good team for one in a better position.

LOL, OMG i just realized Jeff is the Phil Jackson (without the rings) of the IFL. hahahahaha

Again, the only thing I thing I'm really shaking my head at is posting a guy on the block, saying you are trying to get feelers, then going and trading the guy just a small number of hours later. That's not getting a feel for the situation at all.

Players get traded without being on the block all the time. In SI's Football Manager you can make sure any negotiations you have with another team are private. That is something you'd want to do if you don't want to compete with other teams for a guy. So it happens and I understand that. Just don't play with guys' emotions like that.

                              Everyone has seen this before:

                              a) guy gets put on block
                              b) guy gets traded before most (or everyone) can see the block
                              c) guy or guys post how they would have given up a lot more than the guy who ended up getting him

Now sometimes they're just full of shit and maybe wouldn't have offered much more. But most of the time that's an emotional GM who is pissed off and would have given you more for that player because he thinks he's much more valuable.

Anyways, I'm not mad at'cha or anyone for that matter. I'm glad this got out in the air. Personally, I had no interest in Edwards because right now I'm not even in trade mode. I wouldn't even consider trading someone or trading for someone until after the franchise player stage.

While behind the scenes, I don't think there was anything shady about the transition. If I remember correctly it was done so that Jave's return to Oakland could be somewhat of a surprise.

Nonetheless, while I share your urge to see Jeff with a team long-term, for the betterment of the league long-time (and preferably skilled) GMs should get the best available teams only for fear of what a knucklehead could do to a great franchise in a short time.

A great franchise is the culmination of a great many moves and shouldn't be sabotaged from the inside.
