To make an arguement in my defense. HA asked earlier in the season for Edwards through PM. I also was targeting Caffrey. So, yes I put him up for offers, but I got what I wanted. Why should I have to wait for HA to change his mind or maybe even a bettor player to come up that he would rather trade for. I have been screwed way too many times by waiting. If I get what I want then I am done.
Could I have gotten better? The real question is could I have gotten worse, as far as I am concerned.

- Fact: Edwards has more potential than Caffrey
- Fact: Caffrey is older than Edwards
- Fact: Edwards is signed for an extra year
- Fact: Caffrey is making 4.5 million in base salary this year, Edwards 2.1
- Fact: HA is losing 1.7 million in bonus money, Pirates is losing 5.76 million

Fact: This is a bad trade for Orlando

if you like this, you should see what the 2nd phase of my offseason plans are.


Jeff, please don't for one second think my offseason starts as soon as the season is over. i'm a very opportunistic and persistent GM. i put out feelers to GMs who have players i want towards the end of the season. i aim big. Pirates and i have been in talks for a while now, and for even bigger players than Edwards.

and Pirates is completely correct - i don't wait around forever. for every 1 offer i make, GMs should assume i've made other offers to other teams for similar players.

but still, this was only phase one. phase two will be bigger if i can have my way.
