JUNE STATUS REPORT
Record: 29-52 (28.5 Games Back)
Profit: -$280,000
Financialy we're doing ok as we didn't lose any money in June, so that's something.
The good is Castilla having a decent average and solid power so far. The bad is Nilsson showing us very little.
The ugly is that Karros is a real solid player who wants alot of money ($1.7M) and hates playing in Florida so we have to decide wether to put alot of salary into an offense we already think is gonna be ok next year or losing him outright or turning around and trading him in the next month. Goodwin has leveled off but we're still so very high on him, but again he's up for arbitration and we will have to invest to keep him.
We're getting pretty much what we expect from our veterans except for Guillen who has been rubish so far.
Looking at Saunders and Chuck Smith I see a couple of guys who I think can continue to be solid 3-4 type starters although their wildness and pitch economy has to improve as right despite some brilliant flashes, they too often struggle to make it thru 5 innings. Our pen has been putrid of course but i'm hoping that it improves with everybody healthier. Fingers crossed.
