HC can only be signed by the team he was in charge of the previous season.
OC/DC can only be signed as OC/DC/HC by the team they were with the previous season, however they can be offered contracts to be a HC by any other team.
Scout is fair game so anyone can sign them.

Stage 2 and 3 are everyone is fair game..

Whether this is the way to go I don't know but it is what is used in that league.
How do you monitor it? What are the penalties or do you re-sim? What if caught late?

I like this idea personally but regardless the powers that be (Matt & Suicane) have stated a desire for no more house rules. Hopefully the answers to the above please them.

As Mike said, finances are part of the game. If making more money doesn't allow you to get the best coaches, then why fuck with all the aspects of the game geared toward making more money?

When I was in the HFL we did something similar. And we have voted on this in this league and it always fails.

HC can only be offered a contract by current team in stage 1. In stage 2,3 he is fair game.
OC/DC in stage one can be offered same position by current team in stage 1 OR as a HC by any other team in stage 1. Stage 2,3 he is fair game.
        Scouts are free game.

more rules are cumbersome, and in my opinion take away from the game. It is what it is, a slightly flawed game. Fun nonetheless, but still flawed. Kinda like that pretty girl you had a crush on in high school that you admired from afar... once you got the courage to talk to her, you found out her voice sounded like a man. Warty, but still fun to look at...

Lovie Smith was defensive coordinator for the Rams in 2003, lost in the divisional round, then heads to Chicago in 2004. Also signed a big contract with the bears just a few days after the rams' season ended.

Those were just 2 that I found in 10 minutes of searching.
Rex Ryan left The Ravens to become HEAD COACH. Right?

The Chicago Bears hired Smith as head coach in 2004, following the dismissal of Dick Jauron
Smith left the Rams to become HEAD COACH.

You noticed when Kobeck responded, he said, "he was a significant upgrade at HC so I just offered stage 1 instead.". I missed that the first time I saw my coaches were hired, and I responded, "That's totally true, and that does make sense."
Any coordinator who is offered a head coaching job and takes it, makes total sense. Well, unless it's to the Raiders, then they politely decline and stay with their current team haha.

When Ricardo Redd was hired away from me he was simply offered more money. When Portland hired Haith away this year, he was simply offered more money. This is a design flaw in the game. Your examples don't fit the argument because both of those coaches were offered head coaching jobs. Not simply a lateral move between 2 teams for more money.

If we're modeling after the NFL, which seems to be the case, then coaches (and money) would be trade-able ala Jon Gruden: Oakland->Bucs.

I'm much happier Jim worked on the salary requests than anything else. Can't wait to see it come into play in a couple seasons.

Then denied Ron Rivera (then Bears DC and current Panthers HC) the chance to interview for HC. Total dick move. As a Bears fan it certainly didn't raise how much I like the team and still sticks in my head.

I know you're probably thinking how FA works with the shorter contract being better. The difference, though, is that we know that the FA contract evaluation algorithms have been tweaked numerous times since the advent of MP in 2003. I don't remember when Staff Hiring was added to FOF, but I wouldn't be surprised if the contract evaluation algorithms for that have never changed, so comparing the two is very likely an apples and oranges situation.

again, i bring this up the same as I did last year.
In the RNFL I inherited a crappy team in jacksonville. shitty everything. losing money like crazy.

the team is now the 6th most valuable team despite being in the 3rd worst economy. to build this up you need to keep an eye on what you're doing with ticket prices and win consistently. not just 1 or 2 years. multiple years.

I built a new stadium, which is technically a bad idea. After it was built, I have been in the black every year. You make money from club seats and boxes. check where you were the year before during your highest attended game. If you were sold out, you aren't charging enough. crank the price up.
every year in staff hiring I would keep an eye as to what was out there. If i thought there was an upgrade, I'd throw an offer out. I always had decent coaches. If I saw that there was a team that made more cash than I and he had the same needs, i avoided bidding wars and went with the next best guy.

the game has a built in system which is not perfect, but there's no reason to change something that's there and working.

All my offers are always for 5 years cause I'm terrified my entire coaching staff will be cherry picked away, much like what has happened. I also just put in like, $20,000,000 so it shows me the max offer I can make, then I just put that offer in. I don't remember the exact numbers now, but I think Haith was 5yr/9mil, and Moore was 5yr/6.4 mil??? Odd the transaction log doesn't show rejected offers to coaches or I could track that.

Btw, I know he's a rare breed, but Parcells left the Pats after going to the Super Bowl. He also left the Giants after winning the Super Bowl, granted that time it wasn't to go to another team.

The game would be a LOT better financially if Jim just tuned the attendance to favor more quicker. Shit, you can't even sell out playoff games, that should be automatic in the game.

I can't believe I started doing well in 2008 and couldn't even top 50k fans by a 3-1 record in 2011. While the seasons after that, I started increasing my fans, it was because the 'fan support' meter finally increased.

Sure, he can make it painfully frustrating to renovate stadiums, but it's inexcusable for him to have such a flawed attendance system, especially since he makes the team financial system so dependent on the coach hiring stage. Ugh, Jim sucks.
