I cant believe Matt let Crespo pass him by. Maybe "The Future" was to lead the team to a win in the Imperial Bowl.

60 year old, 2 time defending Coach of the Year, Kris Ludwig is available and not retired. He's asking $6,630,000.

Sigh. This is what I've been talking about for years. My team advances to the National Conference game, and my entire coaching staff is gutted. Fucking unrealistic? Now, with only 2 stages left I have to replace them. I can't believe we refuse to make this a frikkin rule. We can sign players a year prior, but just let our coaching staff hit the FA market? Fucking shit fuck. This is a huge setback.

Our league has choosen not to institute a hiring freeze for stage one yet, so your good.

There is something already built into the game for staff retention. There is no need to implement something.

Matt - you talking about improving team finances correct???

Jave = I meant with the Seal HC available starting with stage 2 I might have pulled the trigger early on Moore.

As for Javes point signing coordinators, and giving them a chance, is about the only way the bottom third of the IFL can get quality HCs. Fresno cannot compete with Anchorage/Newark/ect... $ for $. If there was an IFL do-over I am sure we would select level economics, but we are where we are.

Both of the coaches who were hired by other teams, were hired at a SIGNIFICANTLY higher salary then I was able to offer. What this does is give franchises who have been winning consistantly over the past 5ish years, or stadiums/cities with a larger attendance or population, a huge advantage. If I had the same budget as the other teams, I'm quite sure I would be able to offer the coaches a competitive salary, but my smallish stadium, and my lack of a consistent win/loss record puts me at a disadvantage.

You might say, "That's pretty much just like the real NFL", however let me say, the odds of a coach taking his team to the conference championship game, then deciding to jump ship would be extremely rare, almost unheard of. To say the game is coded to account for staff retention would be like saying the game already has sufficient end of half/game time out coding. There may be some coding in place, but it's woefully inadequate.

I hired these guys when they were nothing. They were 39-41 years old and all their skills were either average or just good and it took years and years to get them where they are now. And the way the game is set up, a more successful team can just hire them away on a whim because they have more of a budget to offer higher salary's. I would still today vote for at least the one round freeze to give the current team a chance to resign, because not only are less successful teams at a disadvantage on how much they are able to offer, once the first round is up and you find all your coaches gone, your stuck having to pick from the left overs because you weren't able to offer other, more skillful coaches a contract.

Yea, I'm a bitching a bit, sour grapes and all, but what I am saying still holds true. My coaches are gone, that ship has sailed, but I think this would be a fair move for ALL the GM's in this league. Unlike players, coaches don't just sign on to the highest bidder. There's a ton of factors involved but this game only accounts for one thing. MONEY.

Not sure about the other staff you lost, but just a reminder that Fresno has NEVER been to the POs.

Only reason I could offer Moore $7.77m is because I was promoting him to HC. Otherwise I would not have been able to match what he wanted to stay a DC.

Too your point I would be in favor of a 1 round staff renegotiation export. But I think this has been discussed a number of times before.

FWIW my actual plan was to go for Moore in stage 3 and stick the Assassins with some random dude, but he was a significant upgrade at HC so I just offered stage 1 instead.

That's totally true, and that does make sense. I guess this was building for awhile because I also lost Ricardo Redd (now with Wichita). I also got him when he was NOTHING. Like 39 years old and all his skills were "average". I stuck with him for like a decade, and once again, another team who could offer more money just came along and signed him. I've been petitioning for years to let the original team get first shot. That's how it would be in the NFL.
Unless a coach already under contract is being interviewed for a head coaching job, or a personnel exec is being interviewed for a promotion to general manager that would involve final say on personnel, their existing team can block any meeting.
Yes, my coach WASN'T under contract. But what owner in his right fucking mind would watch an entire coaching staff get hired by other teams and not say a thing? No, I'm going to retain the staff I worked so hard to get, waiting for nearly a decade for these guys to hit their prime and then someone else just comes along and signs them? Makes no sense.
