    I agree.
If this was "real", you would more than likely sell out games when you had a winning record. the fact that there's a cap of max tickets sold for each area that's attainable in a season does not replicate something that's real

Don't get me wrong Matt. I think just like you, "STFU and win more games and it won't be an issue". Yes, I realize this, but I do believe this is a flaw in the code. I'm 3 time division champions. In the last 3 years I've gone 34-19. My team isn't chopped liver but I'm still not making much money. That's friggin sick that Newark TRIPLES what I make in a year. And realistically I don't see a OC or DC leaving a successful team, to go to a less successful team because they paid em 2mil more a year. At least with Haith I can justify it by saying, "hey, their the IFL bowl champs, who wouldn't turn that down?". But I don't even believe that. The only reason Haith jetted was Portland paid more. Bottom line.
The 2 "kickers" here is 1. You don't even get the opportunity to make a "stay with us" offer before coaching free agency. And the biggest one is, if they do leave and sign with another team your totally fucked because every single good coach was scooped up in FA1, so your stuck with the remaining turds.
It's obvious your not going to sign off on a "house rules" on this on that's fine. But it is a flaw I will bitch about every single year

every one gets to make an offer, so you do have the "stay with us". Your financials will dictate what the offer is. I can't stress enough that there is a significant "stay with us" code in the game. Your offer is based on a multiplier compared to competing teams. I don't know what the percentile is.

            compare the records
before your past 3 good seasons you had 5 seasons of under .500.

My team has a level of consistency atleast. We are winning. My fans come to the games and I increase ticket costs

              interesting info here.

I checked Chris's team because he posted in here.
something was obviously done by someone running Montreal.
You don't go from making profit every yr to losing money like this

I'd check things out and adjust it

                My stadium cap is 60.3k

                2008
                Game 1 = 46.1k fans
                Game 16 (13-3 record going in) = 49.7k fans

                2009
                Game 1 = 48.5k fans
                Game 8 (7-0 record going in) = 48.5k fans
W.Card (first ever postseason home game) = 48.5k fans

                2010 (23-9 past 2 seasons)
                Game 1 = 45.4k fans
                Game 16 (10-6, playoff bound) = 48k fans

                2011
                Game 5 (3-1 record and 3 straight postseasons) = 49.4k fans

                .....

then my brief history of winning stopped

                ......

I can't believe I started doing well in 2008 and couldn't even top 50k fans by a 3-1 record in 2011. While the seasons after that, I started increasing my fans, it was because the 'fan support' meter finally increased.

Sure, he can make it painfully frustrating to renovate stadiums, but it's inexcusable for him to have such a flawed attendance system, especially since he makes the team financial system so dependent on the coach hiring stage. Ugh, Jim sucks.
I couldn't agree more. The current setting of 3-4 consistently winning seasons in order to fill the seats is complete BS. The minute your able to throw together a 3-4 game winning streak, the bandwagon fans start filling the stadium, buying the jerseys etc...
if you make the playoffs, there's not going to be an empty seat in the house.

The flaw in the logic here is the idea that you have to have consistent winning seasons to make money.

There's no penalty for not spending all your cap dollars, high popularity players put fans in the stands, and if it's the last year of your coach's deal and you know you aren't winning it all this year, then maybe don't go out and give a huge signing bonus to some free agent.

You seem to be thinking as a football fan. New fans (boosting popularity) have no previous interest in the sport. Would 3-4 wins in a row get you to watch...

When I lived back East with SteveBeans the culture would latch onto anything competitive so the bandwagon jumpers you speak of are there. Here in Albuquerque the culture is different and I see why there's no professional sports here. I don't think 3-4 winning seasons of a pro football team would change much. Isn't UNM a joke in college football? They probably find it hard to field a team.

You do have a point there, perhaps I'm used to this area where we grew up with the 4 major sports shoved down our throats, the second one of the 4 local teams start winning, the bandwagon is full.

However, the Revolution (soccer) I think has had some decent seasons, but they still don't make headlines and attendance probably sucks.

Like you said, in other parts of the country, the attitude is different. I've seen NHL teams fail horribly when they try to put teams in places that just don't really grab on, especially in the south.

I think the 'fan loyalty' bar should be replaced with something like 'fan interest' which should fluctuate at a much quicker rate possibly depending on a few factors aside wins.. poverty level, entertainment competition, etc.

Oh well, I know this is talk that will be forgotten in a week until next off-season's coach period, but it's good discussion regardless.

That is one weak example. Your going to put cricket and rugby in the same trough as the NBA and NFL? That's apples and oranges. Try a more realistic example. If the local NBA team is sucking, and starts winning, then yes, I probably would go out and get tickets. I'm a sports fan, you can't use frikkin rugby as an example. They have to at least be a professional team. NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL......

+1. I got ZERO additional fans to show up for my final home game when we were playing for a playoff spot for the first time in 10 yrs! In real life those tickets should have been hard to come by. I shot Solcesmic Support an email about it. It shouldn't be that hard to code in the impact of a playoff run on attendance - of course then he would probably need to code in something to reduce attendance for a team fading at the end of a season.

Mark - yep and Fresno would only have Bob Ucker sitting in the 'front row!'

Matt - interestingly Montreal would have been in the black every year if not for bonus $. Not saying teams should not pay bonuses but clearly the Firebirds somewhat controled that bottom line, at least to a degree. Don' have game access right now, but I'm thinking Fresno losses would be bonus $$$ related as well.

Really no getting around some bounuses though. I mean do you let Albert "Jeff George" Schwartz walk to retain a 72y.o. HC???

Look at the % filled. They were 90% filled and then the next year they went down 10%. They haven't made significant money since.
                              Not hard to figure out.
