In the future I think an actual ballot would be the best way to go. Even if it has 20 guys to choose from, it'll at least get the names out. I can take the head on that a few weeks before the end of the next season if you want.

I also think we should do away with the in-game's all-league selections and do our own....

That's understandable. I wasn't jumping for joy when I decided to do things this way, but I found it necessary for a few reasons. It's possible this will be the only year I do this. Though, if only half the league is voting for the Owner Awards again somewhere down the line then there isn't much use in having them anyways.
i concur on the mandatory voting for all categories. my votes were not necessarily the greatest quality. if we go this route in the future we should have a ballot with a short write up for the players nominated so we get better quality votes. just a thought....
read the thread. There are guys pimping their players.

I originally thought it was kind of a shitty deal, but the more I thought about it, how hard is it to vote? It takes only a few minutes. I think we as owners deserve to give this time back. We owe it for all the work that certain guys do for the enjoyment of the entire group. A small comparison.

I don't know what the turn in has been in years past, but i'm assuming that it hasn't been spectacular. For the overall league enjoyment, it would be nice to get the full diverse voting.
i understand and im not complaining. Just saying my vote is probably not the best and would hate to have an equally unimpressive owner vote result because of 10 guys like me. just owning up to being lame and not taking enough time to really search through the stats. So i may vote for a guy on a quick look when someone else may have a compelling case for them.

BTW i dont trust you guys and your pimping. All pimps say they have the best Ho's.... and as far as i know there is only one true Ho.

Do you want the benefits of the best possible owner voted awards without having to do any of the work yourself towards achieving that consensus? Or are you saying that you don't want 'lame' owners to ruin it for the owners in the league that do care about the awards?

I'm with Matt on this one. Especially with the new database, it doesn't take long to look around for the right players. It helps immersion to be able to move beyond our own teams. I think its a small price to pay to be part of a top class league. And yes, I did submit my ballot before the last week, so I guess I'll line up and take my caning now.

My sentiment is that there are some players that I believe are X. Let's say MVP, I might disagree with the consensus, but I can vote for an MVP pretty easily. When you get to STPOTY I am going to have a crappy pick. I just don't dive down to those figures enough to make a decision based on anything else besides numbers.

When I look at the other positions, you have to look at things as a whole. That is why I have always rated Lozier higher than many other people because when you look at what the Vipers have on offense, you can't help but be struck by the lack of top talent around him, etc., etc.

Anyhow, I just wanted to get my opinion on record because I am going to have some good selections and others that are crap.

One other thing, I would like to put Jim Hickman up for Breakout Player of the Year. Some things to keep in mind:

                    1) He was out with an injury for much of the year.
                    2) He put up stats when he played that no Grizzly QB has come close to matching on a consistent basis.
                    3) The last game of the season was an experimental game plan, so his completion percentage came down largely because of that.
                    4) If he would have qualified, he would have been one of the top 7 or 8 QBs in the league as far as QB rating.

Okay, I was going to keep it a secret, but Suicane and I are going to be releasing our own all-pro team - we discussed this together awhile back. Probably will dub it the "Commishes's Team" or something. These awards will show up in the player cards.

I would not have a problem with a group of media personalities putting together something of their own. These could also be mentioned in the player cards. It might get a little tricky though putting everyone's thoughts together though. Would probably have to have a chat session or something.

Sorry if my honesty made waves. I just want to throw out that I didnt spend as much time as I really should to make good decisions. I took the easy road. I voted based on a 15 minute review of the stats listings to see who looked the best. That doesnt mean I made an intelligent vote. It might make my vote no better than the AI decisions. That is the downside to no preset ballot and/or nominated group that narrows the field down. Just my two cents. Im willing to participate in making it better next year. Maybe a simple division of the positions and assigning a couple guys to each award to create the ballot and quick summaries followed by lobbying.

So when Im owning up to being lame dont smack me around or I will lie next time and say my votes were rock solid and well thought out like my gameplanning.

Just do your best, guys - that's all I'm really asking for. Hopefully by making this mandatory this year those that haven't voted in the past will see that it can be a bit fun.

The Special Teams PotY Award is wide open. 14 ballots in and there are 9 different players.

I suggest we have a small group of owners that starting around week 14 start to compile a list of players for the Owner Awards and create a ballot that way.

Maybe have 3 guys from the AC and 3 from the NC, that way owners who are less involved or without a lot of time can vote based on a pool that is already narrowed down.

                                Just my .02
