Sad.
Even if the new gameplan screens work (I personally think Jim makes a bunch of tantelizing GUI's yet actually has code for every situation based way too much on a "random fucntion" with an unrealistic strength of balance set towards offense in general).
Alas, I might be out of the IFL when the change to Front Office (nothing like professional) Football 2007 is made.

i googled her. what does she do that makes her different - she have any gimmicks? i'm not into porn chicks. only 2 types for me:Originally posted by SuicaneSoftcore smut at that. For shame.
Does HA know of Keely Hazel?
celebrity candid nudity
completely random hot chicks
i prefer completely random hot chicks. i don't like inducing myself to ejaculate over these porn types that i'll never meet. i'm more a realist - girls topless on the beach, flashing at mardi gras - things you're likely to actually see. that makes me happy.

Play around with the demo. From what I have messed around with, the offense is deinitely not overpowered. I only had one game with a deep passing attack that had less than 2 INTs. Never saw that with 2k4. Granted there may be some issues, but I find it odd that people are slamming this release already. Especially given the fact that many of the items being slammed are handled the same way in 2k4.Originally posted by JesterBlazeSad.

Hell, the fact that some people are completely turned off because SP doesn't have expansion? Come on people, how much does that REALLY change the game. Oh, we get to play Mexico City this week! Woo hoo!

I'll definitely be checking out the demo in greater detail in days to come...

Based on 2k4 I don't think Jim "gets football".
I do like the sounds of your described experience with the long ball so far though.l

this is good news at least (re: draft AI), copied and pasted from FOFC:
Spending some time with the draft to make sure it's good to go. I think either Jim spent a lot of his time with the draft AI or he made a few tweaks that apparently made all of the difference in the world.
So far teams are for the most part drafting who they are "supposed" to take, but there are occasional surprises as well.
For instance, Dallas could use a QB and there's a 6.5 Adjst QB there to take. Their QB situation isn't bad, Romo has potential (45). Instead of taking the QB though, they end up taking a SS. At first this looked dumb (Roy Williams!), but then I saw they have no FS. I'll edit this post later to confirm if Dallas does move their drafted SS to FS (the drafted SS is 66/83 scouted).
So there is the occasional surprise (that is rational). So far, so good.
EDIT: Oakland who is in complete dire need of a QB pass on the 6.5 QB and take a DE instead. Haha. So realistic! (In all seriousness, the DE is an incredible stud, potential of 97). The QB ended up going 6th to Tampa Bay. So far I've yet to see the top QB in the draft, even if he's not all that good, slip out of the first round. 3 more QBs went in round 1, rated as low as 5.7 Adjst while there are still several players at other positions who are Adjst over 6.

Jim understands football far more than most other game designers out there do. Once you get to understand FOF, there is a lot going on under the hood. What many people don't realize is that at its heart FOF is a random number generator. Anything you put into a game plan is attempting to manipulate the results of the RNG to your liking.Originally posted by JesterBlazeI'll definitely be checking out the demo in greater detail in days to come...

Case in point, I went with an extremely run heavy game plan in another league. One week, I pass the ball 42 times! No, I was not getting blown out either... The next week, same game plan I pass the ball 22 times. What was the difference? Nothing, just bad luck with the RNG in the first game. That is going to happen in ANY game like this.
There are three issues that I have with FOF2k4. First, the QBs are overvalued. Second, the deep passing game is too easy. If a team with a top of the line passing defense meets the top of the line passing offense, the passing defense wins way too much. Third, the pass coverages are too simplistic minimizing the impact of true stud CBs.
Just as an aside, FOF is a very finely balanced game. However, it is not a balanced equilibrium. If you skew off to one side or the other, it can have some dire unintended consequences. Look at the IHOF. The league over there is very stratified. There has been very little movement between the teams at the top and those at the bottom. Much of that is due to the initial draft files they used in the league. Even 8 years in, over half of the 80+ rated players over there are from the initial draft class. That is nuts!
But, what happened was that those who chose a lot of young talent were able to trade that talent into multiple 1st round picks. They were able to bring in some valuable young talent. Makes sense, but the problem is that for the most part, the ONLY valuable draft picks are the 1st rounders because the other picks are either backups or don't even make the team. The GMs that have the 1st round picks are then able to trade their picks for other top talent, or get a good amount of talent in return for their pick. So the rich get richer and the poor poorer. Especially if there is a draft bust. Compare that to over here where people have their 2nd, 3rd, and in some cases 4th round draft picks starting.
All this because the initial draft pool had too much talent. It is getting better over there though since a lot of the initial talent is retiring. However, many players over there are lingering into their 13, 14, or 15th years because they are still starting because the talent coming into the league is so weak.

you trying to say Jim has programed the AI to pass more on certain weeks and run more on others? that's pretty weird.
you can't win with Jim. when you try to comment on something that might not be working he'll say "based on my research of pro football", then when it's convenient for him he'll point out that "FOF is not an NFL simulation game".
he makes good games, don't get me wrong. just he makes his kind of games and not the games that people would like to customize themselves to play. with basically 3 years since his last game he can't say he hasn't had enough time to completely overhaul this series.
i agree w/ Warhammer, that FOF is essentially a glorified random number generator that you try to skew in your favor. that's a good analogy.
i'm gonna buy the game cuz its the best out there for that particular sport, but i'm just hoping he starts to make the series more like how i want it to be.

Definitely. The big problem with this game and most other sports sim games are the small samples we deal with in game.i agree w/ Warhammer, that FOF is essentially a glorified random number generator that you try to skew in your favor. that's a good analogy
For example, if you have it set to run 50% of the time on 1st - 10, every time it's in that situation it will flip a coin and a play will be called. As anyone knows, flipping a coin can sometimes land on heads far more than tails with a small sample.
I don't think it does this, but it would be nice, is if it actually looked back at the game and adjusted based on what has already happened that game. If the 50% turned up 4 passes in 5 plays because of fluke 'rolling', maybe the coach could start favoring runs a bit more to balance it out. I don't think it does that though, but who really knows.Steve Beans - Houston Renegades
