Damn. I was really hoping the zodiac chemistry system would be axed. Personally, that's a pretty big bummer.

Just looking through the demo.. I don't know.. I'm.. slightly.. underwhelmed.. haven't done anything but going through player profiles and stuff though..

At a glance, it looks like gameplanning and depth-charts have been given the most work..

I dislike the new icons (but I bet those are customizable)

        My main concern though..

        ARE 2004 LEAGUES "CONVERTABLE"?

Yeah. My expectations might have been a little bit higher because of the time he mentioned he was looking at adding more FM-like roleplaying stuff. I'm not sure I see anything like that, except the "red flag" players. Again, I'm unimpressed with the current affinity/conflict system and am curious why he stayed with it.

That's a plus I guess. Haven't looked through them too much, but it's nice to see field goal distances in there.

oofta.. no idea what he was thinking with some of the new icons. Those should be editable with ResHacker as usual, but any changes always get overwritten when new *.exe's come out.

            New box-scores kick ass

New log-files are really nice too, but won't beat watching the game live.

Solevision eliminates the need for an external viewer.. big props (though I really like Greg's FOFViewer)

The problem with Solevision is that it's on the Simulation-window, so you'll see the results on there before opening the Solevision-view... i.e. you'll have the result before watching the games..

Gameplanning.. you'll still have to open each screen individually (he's not going back to tabs) Gameplanning is NOT my forte though, so I'll leave those comments to someone else. By the looks of it though, this has been the most improved section.

Transaction-screen now lists which week the transaction was made.

              From the Solecismic FAQ:

Will I be able to import Front Office Football 2004 saved games into Front Office Football 2007?

There are so many differences in the data files that this is not practical. However, we understand that many established multi-player leagues have a significant history, and we'd like them to be able to enjoy the new product. This would be a significant problem for them. Within about two weeks after the release, we hope to have a utility ready to handle the conversion of a multi-player league. There will be significant gaps in the player and league history, but the game itself should function properly. Because of security concerns (we wouldn't want the utility to be used to hack the encryption in the data files), we will not be releasing this utility to the public. Instead, we will perform the conversion itself for commissioners of existing leagues and send them the new game files.

Yeah, just read that.. has me a bit worried though.. not that I don't trust Jim, but it has me worried that we've got this great league.. fantastic history and tremendous new site set up...

                Should we do this?

It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

Earliest would be after the 2008 season. After 2009 might be best. We'll see...

After 2009 would be best in my opinion too.. I'm sure that FOF2007 will have the same "child-ailments" as all other new software has and waiting two seasons will give us a more mature product to upgrade to. It also gives us time to fully evaluate what the effects of an upgrade would be to our league.

That's funny if you actually expected that from Jim.

One early issue I see with a migration is the fact that we've created our own database based on the output of Greg's programs... For 2007, Jim has put an encryption on the files which will either a) take a long time before someone figures it out or b) nobody will go at it at all..

I'm really hoping Jim has thought about this...

Encryption? How would that be different from versions past? We knew there was a risk going ahead with the DB when we did, but we also knew it would be awhile before we updated.
