  • I am not trying to get out of it. :youarestupid:

Just because I don't get things done on a regular basis doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. I am very happy to keep it going, in fact more so because of the new website and how the guys have player pages showing college awards. I freakin' loved that when I saw it.

As for player ratings, as I have tried to hint at in the college updates so far this season, things get a reality check this next draft. It seems to be a down year in some ways for talent, with many imports of the test file being a top ten pick team's worst nightmare. After that it seems kind of normal.

One thing I love about about FOF2007 that I read, is being able to ask players to put on weight. That will help with some of he underweight players that come out of TCY without having to adjust them pre-draft. (IE, 260 offensive linemen)

      • SO I am a sucker like I said and bought the game already. I saw a Skydog post on computer gameplan adjustment on FOFC that got me to do it actually and I wanted to test it myself. Here is the exact post I made at FOFC a few seconds ago......

Ok, so I just bought the game in the last couple of hours and the first thing I did was check this.

I did so by starting an MP league, and set all teams to computer control along with the coaches controling everything for when I took over some teams. I simmed until before week 3 of the regular season so things could get going some. I then took over in this MP, Arizona and their next 4 opponents (St. Louis, Atlanta, Kansas City, Chicago). I took screen shots of everyones offensive and defensive gameplans right away then simmed week 3 games and did it again. There were changes for everyone, on both gameplans. For weeks 4 and 5 I just looked at Arizona and their opponent for that week because I was becoming satified already.

I was becoming a little disappointed that the offensive gameplans didn't seem to be changing much. They were changing, but only a few points up or down. Better then nothing but I was thinking some more change once in a while would be nice. Then I saw this....

        Atlanta offense before the game

        Atlanta offense after the game

As you may notice, there are some 10 point changes in there, very nice.

And just for the heck of it I will throw in a defensive example.....

        KC defense before the game

        KC defense after the game

Some good size adjustments were needed for short yardage situations I guess, very nice again.

Also, for the KC game I checked the Slight Pass Situations on defense for both teams. KC didn't adjust anything except double coverage, going from 31 and 12 to 53 and 23. Arizona adjust the coverages a little (a percentage point up or down for each) and double coverage (from 52/23 to 35/14).

I checked the Gameplan adjustments the first week also, and noticed no changes at all for the two teams I checked. Both teams were also exactly the same here so I think that is something the AI (in this case anyways) will not adjust. Maybe in solo play it does but I can't really check that.

I am convinced, this is 100x better so far.

          • I'm not too concerned if the offensive adjustments do not change from game to game. The main reason is because it is a coach's philosophy based upon game situation whether they pass or run more. If I am a conservative coach, regardless of how much I have decided to pass during the game, if I am leading, I am going to run more to one degree or another, whatever level that may be.

Solevision helps out tremendously from an SP immersion standpoint. Plus, with the play descriptions you can really get a chance to see who is doing what. You know who is making the pass deflection, you know who is opening the hole for the runner, you can see where elusiveness kicks in, etc., etc.

The computer drafting has improved quite a bit so far, I've only been through the dispersal draft and the first year's draft and the AI has really focused on key positions, QB, DE, RB, etc. You don't see too many highly drafted G, RT, LBs, etc.

YOu are not too concerned? The same exact gameplan from a team, every game, would blow. A gameplan that only adjusts 1 or 2 points isn't much better.

If a team has a certain style that that fine, but it is still realistic to think that that team would perhaps go from 68% run to 58% run if a team had a strong run defence and a pathetic pass defense. It's not really going away from their style as it is adjusting to take advantage of what may be a hole on the other team.

              • Hmmm.. I think Warhammer is just saying that there isn't much reason to have the situational modifiers change. Having a team always run 30% more when they are ahead is fine, because the number it's modifying DOES change.

                      • So what are you guys thinking about the game?

The Solovision, IMO, was a feature that was not required because of the current game viewers available. I hope that a lot of time wasn't put into this area of the game. For me, there is just way too much going on.

The only thing that sounds cool about the Solevision thing is the ability to follow other games during your game. I'd love to be able to watch score updates of those from my division during my game, but I do agree from what I saw of it, there is a lot going on there.

                          • So far I enjoy the Solevision. It is better then the normal viewers out their IMO.

We will see if my enjoyment wears off after a bit, but right now it is a good feature added for me.

I'm curious, have you used Greg's viewer? I've obviously only tried the demo-version of Solevision yet, but I miss seeing the ball on the field.. I also found the text a bit hard to follow, whereas in Greg's viewer you have the latest play sort of like FM, but it all rolls in a listbox similar to Jim's Solevision, only that it doesn't disappear.
