I remember somewhere it being written that in FOF2k4 that depending on the entire contract it would be rejected because any enormous jump would be viewed as money not going to the guy.

In other words, the guy is looking at that as a one year contract because the bonus is so small compared to the total value of the contract. What is to keep you from renegotiating after the first year.

In other words, it makes complete sense why he wouldn't sign the deal. That said, the box you have there is incorrect.
