Kickers, more than any other position, seem to be a huge part "boom or bust" so I want to increase my chances of getting a useful kicker out of this draft.

      • I have found that kickers ratings are completely smoke and mirrors. I dont know how many times I have gotten a kicker that is maxed out in attributes and he kicks frickin' in the low 70% range. Now I get our current kicker Christmas in FA. He was undrafted I might add. And he is the most accurate kicker in the Imperial League that is still active. Lifetime he is 86.5%. My scout rates him at 44 and he is isnt even listed in the to 20 kickers in ratings.

So, my point is, . . . never draft a kicker. Get one in FA and if he hits FG % in the 80's his first year then sign him up for another. If he does it back to back, you have found a ratings sleeper. I found my kicker because I dug his name. It's always Christmas when he is kicking.

I don't think it's all smoke and mirrors, but it would be easier to figure kickers out if they had the FG% depending on the yardage.

Does your kicker only attempt mostly 20-45 yard FGs? What happens when you're stopped at the 35 yard line? Do you usually punt or go for a FG attempt?

          • well maybe, but you had no way of knowing how the draft would develop and at least you got the guy you wanted. FWIW Mules would have taken him early third. So he would not have fell past 3.4 anyways.
True, true. In matter of fact I had a hard time deciding between him and Karl Hinson. Now that I've looked back on it I should of drafted SS Kent Foreman.

Oakland, Knowles and Kelly. Knowles has spent time with Oakland, Pittsburgh, I think maybe Portland, and now he plays for the Mules.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not taking Hinson, and taking Treu instead. Graybill not accepting my FA offer f'ed up my draft strategy. Treu is +3 in potential so far though, so he might turn out to be good.

You know that's just scout adjustment, right?

                  • Forman's potential already took a hit, and he won't move to LCB. I'm wishing I would have drafted Stazler.

I think Stazler is going to be a sleeper. I am absolutely thrilled I got him. I would have prefered Hinson, but I'll take him.

                        • I was looking long and hard at Stazler as well, but just couldn't pull the trigger since I had position needs that didn't include guard. That's what I get for not getting the job done in FA. Very nice pickup Warhammer.
