I can't find any useful data tables right now but that sounds like crazy talk. I expect a few teams who reserve $$ but then miss out on their big name targets to have some extra lying around but by season's end if a team's consistently sitting on money then the fans are going to go shithouse.

Every off-season I remember for whatever team I've been following has made logical sense: Those with bad records/talent the previous season have money to go after the top players, unless they're cap strapped from multiple retirements or something. Those who were successful try to keep their own players but know they won't be "a player" in free agency.

I guess it depends what you define as close. Take a look at this chart..

        http://www.osmguy.com/wp-content/upl...es-by-team.jpg

24 teams have spent at least 90% of the cap and 12 teams are at 95%.

I know we're very early in the off-season, but right now we have 5 teams spending at least 90% of the cap, and half the league already has the league minimum players signed to take the field.

With 5 non kickers left with ratings more than 50, that means it will take a lot more DG type of signings in order to bring our league on a closer spending level to the NFL.

I know I'm not one to talk being in the top 8 of cap space available, but I have a hard time really seeing how we will ever have cap issues. I have a $16.5 million cap hit QB, one of the best TE's and one of the best WR's in the league, yet have $40m in cap space with nobody to spend it on.

It seems the only real way to get into cap trouble right now is to have a HUGE contract like Schwartz or be in the perfect storm of 6-8 'very good' players who have all been re-signed past their rookie contracts (like Lawrence and Wichita). Both situations are not really easy to reach because the talent pool of players in the league isn't really very high.

I also find it interesting Buddha that you are one to complain about this but you are offering a PUNTER like 30 mil for 2 years in free agency. hmm

Haha yea. I put an offer in on him for nostalgia sake but wasn't going to offer decent cash. I was actually kinda shocked anyone bid on him but he's a mentor so it makes sense.

Douche, you like that huh? Hahahaha. I had a respectable 4yr/32 mil but changed it last stage after you signed George to that insane deal. I figured he would sign. Hahahaha. I might go up to 2yr/40 mil or go back to a 4 yr deal...you never know.
