As promised TB will cover the run for the playoffs through Week 17.
A Recap of Last Week 12:
Norfolk-Lawrence Well the big game was the Norfolk/Lawrence clash and it did not disappoint. Both teams had their moments, both good and bad, in this game. The difference ended up in special teams where Lawrence K Clay Greene was 1-4 in field goal attempts whereas Norfolk’s Chuck Morris nailed a 54 yard attempt with 10 seconds on the clock to break the 17-17 deadlock and for the win. Both teams had their success in limiting two top rated offenses potentials. Phantoms’ “Bake” Amos never found his rhythm and Vipers’ “Who-dat” Cavazos had three picks. Lawrence, whose high flying offense usually takes it in for the “six” rather than settle for a “three”, will need much better support from Greene if they intend to face the AC representative in the Imperial Bowl. Despite the win, Norfolk took its lumps too. More injuries surfaced and with a taxing schedule, they have an uphill journey to overtake West Virginia for the division championship and a probable 1st round seed.
Tulsa-St.Louis The unexpected, but it can happen any given Sunday. We had named the AC-South as the most exciting division in the American Conference. Little did we expect that one of their teams would be taking its circus act to a National Conference power house. Yes, the Cardinals flew higher than the TigerHawks on Sunday and ended a 30 game regular season home game winning streak. Congrats to the TigerHawks on an incredible record and kudos to the Cardinals for finding the right combination to reset their opposition’s clock.
Oakland-Cleveland A strong performance from Oakland over a Perkin-less Cleveland. Oakland’s talent on Offense is pretty scary!
Vancouver-Iowa City What happened here? … TOTAL dominance by the Killer Whales over the current AC North division leader, Iowa City. Go figure … we can’t.
Playoff picture … refocus after Week 12 (what changed):
NATIONAL CONFERENCE
The North – we have crowned Pennsylvania as its champion.
The South – we also crown Tulsa as its champs at this point, and despite the loss to St. Louis, they “seemingly” are assured a bye in the playoffs. Home field advantage is another story.
.
 The East and The West … hold on folks, there is still football to be played in these divisions. Last week, Newark was the big winner as both Lawrence and Tulsa lost. Now, all three battleships are tied with records of 9-2 (with five games to be played). Not only is the East championship still on the line, but there is also that bye involved as well. And did we mention that Oakland is only one game out of contention for a bye as well.
Here is how these East teams’ schedules compare: looking at Tulsa first. Its stiffest competition is games against Murfreesboro and Pennsylvania. But Lawrence only has one game against an above .500 team – Oakland. And then there is Newark. They have a mouthful to swallow … West Virginia and Norfolk. But with this said, ALL THREE TEAMS have the talent to run the table … and ALL THREE TEAMS have the possibility of facing a St. Louis type team as well and ending up like Tulsa did last week.
In the West, Vancouver has two opponents over .500 (Reno and Cleveland); Oakland has three (Lawrence, Iowa City and Reno). Oakland has a one game lead.
AMERICAN CONFERENCE
 The North – IWC looked horrible on Sunday. This is not a time to go into a slump especially when Cleveland will get Corey Perkins back on the field for the last three games of the season starting with a game against the Snipe Hunters! Iowa City must rectify whatever the problems were last week! Louisiana and Reno should allow for this to happen. And Cleveland needs to pull out the stops vs. Murfreesboro so as not to fall 2 games behind Iowa City.
 The South – we still think that this division could provide some fireworks for all to watch. Houston is starting to strut a bit and St. Louis already has already lit a fuse. Murfreesboro has the most taxing remaining schedule … so fans, sit back and enjoy.
 The East – West Virginia keeps on rolling down the river ever so comfortably. Currently undefeated, they still must face Houston & Newark. Their division rival Norfolk has Portland & Newark as their strongest opponents. West Virginia has a one game lead but then there is Week 17 where both teams will meet to conclude the regular season. What a finale for the IFL season!
 The West – There really is a good race in the West especially after upstart QB Karl Bauer got hurt this last week end and will be out for three weeks. One would think that this presents an opportunity for Anchorage to make their move, now being only one game out. But guess who the back-up QB is for Portland … future hall of famer, Jay Caro who in his 15th season is still the 14th highest rated QB in the league at 68/68. So let’s look at the Seals and Lynx schedules. Above .500 teams for the Seals are Norfolk, Anchorage and Pennsylvania. The Lynx only have Portland . Interesting indeed, especially for the Lynx. We think we will see both teams in the playoffs … not sure which one will be the wild card at this point.
West Virginia or Norfolk will get a bye depending on final position in the East. We think it will be a three way race for the other bye … between Murfreesboro, Portland and Anchorage.
Week 13 Preview (teams in bold are playoff hopefuls):
Iowa City at Louisiana The Snipe Hunters must and should rebound.
Cleveland at Murfreesboro A Perkin-less Cleveland team seems to be hanging on for their playoff life. Murfreesboro is looking for a first round bye and to put nails in its division mates’ coffins. These types of games make the playoff push ever so exciting.
Houston at West Virginia Houston direly needs to mirror the St. Louis’ efforts of last week. A possibility since West Virginia continues to leisurely sail towards the Promised Land without any serious challenge and may have their guard down.
St. Louis at Hartford The Cardinals cannot forget how they won last week. Defense has been their calling card all year. Hartford will try its best to hypnotize the Cardinal offense but the spell should fall short and allow St. Louis to prevail.
Norfolk at Portland Both teams have been stung with injuries. Caro is back at the helm for Portland. They also lost their all-pro MLB. Cavazos leads the Vipers but cannot continue to make costly interceptions. Portland is at home. Looks like a push … so you call it.
Anchorage at Wichita Should be a slam dunk for the Lynx.
Pennsylvania at Tulsa We think that this could be one of the best games of the week. Both teams are looking to make a statement. This is the week to do it.
Lawrence at Oakland Lawrence (on the rebound) is a tall order for any team. Lawrence legacy rests in its consistency against the elite teams … this probably will not change for this game but Oakland has some really scary talent.
Newark at Salt Lake City Lawrence opened the back door; Newark cannot let it close again with a loss.
Vancouver at Lansing After their impressive performance last week, the Killer Whales cannot become complacent and Lansing should not present any problems for this to occur.

Nice breakdown TB!!!
The NC is just soooo wide open right now. 1 thing that separates Newark from both Tulsa and Lawrence has been our soft schedule. Easiest in the league thus far.
We must win against SLC horsies. We must run the table. We will lose all tie breakers with Lawrence and Tulsa(I think). I want that homefield for the playoffs. I want that chance.
not looking past this week though. I'm very focused on the horsies and glad as hell that the "terror" is out. That guy usually eats me alive!!!!!

If someone does figure it out - please let me know!
We were also sitting at 7-4 last season, then the wheels came off and we lost our last 5 games. Not sure if the current regime can survive another collapse like that. After last season I wondered if there was something in FOF that could trigger a losing streak like that - based on a hidden coaching rating or something. But I couldn't find anything about it over at FOFC.

In another league, one season my team started out 7-1. We finished 8-8 and only because we recovered a fumble deep in our territory at the end of the game.
The next season we started out 3-4 and were playing terrible. We ended up 10-6. Basically the same team. Go figure.

Man, I hate it when you say things like this. Translation: Tulsa, I am setting up a gameplan that will shut you down. You will be lucky to sniff the endzone.
And then to throw a little salt on it, you say good luck. Oh boy, its going to be a long day.
Good luck to you as well.

Been cooking up a special gameplan just for Jester all day. Your going DOWN!!!
I'm cooking up a special motivational speech to keep you in the IFL after the "I can't compete with the elite gameplanners" rhetoric comes in on Sunday after the Oakland loss.
