It's not much different than your boss asking you if he can pay you with a check from your local bank instead of Bank of America. What do you care? But to make the players look like good guys the media reports it that way. FWIW - I read 9 players got cut when Manning first signed the deal. He's such a team player.
LOL there's about 25 useless, worthless, good for nothing players I would love to see the Raiders cut. It was probably worth it!

    • I read it as a salary cap move. He was going to get 10 mil which goes against the cap. But he agreed to prorate it over the life of the contract. 2 mil a year. That is similar to what Torres did. We just dont have roster bonuses or any of those things. It is a cap saving move. Which is what the Torres deal was.

But the Raiders have the best DE in the league. Too bad he plays QB.

I bet ya Russell has a great year. Seriously. The guy is ready to break out. Now if we just had some fucking receivers!!

Lets face it, the Torres contract was fine. Nothing to see here....move along please......
                Calm down Jave

I'm just saying that if you want to compare the situation with a real life one, compare it with a player of the same talent than Torres. Top 5 talent.

There's dozens of example of players taking big pay cut to stay on the team because they didn't live up to expectations.

It's a good year to get some in the draft.

The only thing that is ready to 'break out' is the waistband on his pants.

                      BOOM!

                      oke:

                        NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

If the Raiders draft another skill position player without addressing the offensive and defensive lines I'll lose my f#cking mind. It doesn't matter who your receivers are if Russell's on his back all game.

That said, I feel the Raiders receivers are young and should be given a couple of years.

                        • Rules won't fix what some people believe is a 'problem'.

I don't think it's a problem that teams keep their top players, as most NFL teams do. How many top notch players do you see hit the market each year in the NFL? Not many.

                          • I am glad some of you get the whole bonus issue. Thanks Cy for breaking down the contract too. If you look at it, like I originally did, you understand more what is going on.

Do real NFL players do this? Sure they do. Maybe not exactly the same way but they do. I think this is as close as we get to a real NFL comparison. Some of the other ones are a much further stretch and besides this is a game.

Did I screw everyone over and ruin the structure of the game? I dont think so. This is really only effecting my team. It is more of a gamble then anything else. If and when he gets hurt we are on the hook for roughly 25% more money then before. If I had renegotiated a lesser talent then no one would have said a thing.

                            • Agree with Pirates. I remember sweating the retirement list because I had restructured the Mules starting DTs too the point that if either retired then I would have had to restart the rebuild process. Went thru that for a couple of seasons. When Ash was in last year of contract I was finally able too trade him.

FWIW everyone notice the real NFL tag and trade with Kassel???
