I think you guys might be off on the total number of people who've chimed in and the voting.

My vote is for a lower salary cap when it comes around again but I also think that no matter what the cap is GMs have to adjust to it or the league will be imbalanced.

If I'm part of the "you guys" lemme tell you that I don't run anything but my mouth and the Phantoms around here.

Since you won't answer my question I'm assuming from this that the player's request is your version of "value". So would a $710k contract offer be ok if the player is asking for $700k?

It would be perfectly fine. And you'd pay the contract for a whole season before you reneg'd and you'd pay the entire bonus no matter what.

Yes, that's the point of having the most cap space.

The point being is that EVERY Teams cap space needs to be much more limited. so they cant over pay the players and the market would be more alive. ALL Teams need less allowance to spend on players period.

now moveing along to your question i suppose. no 710 wasnt my idea but limit the amount of funds so a team would actually feel hurt by offering a 15 mil contract to sucha player would be in the best interest of the league. You should have to manage your team like a GM has to and budget your money and reneg contracts to make more cap space for other players ETC. You should NOT... and I mean god damn NOT have an open check book to do with as you wish.

Dude, you don't get it still. What a guy asks for in the game has no bearing on what the MP free agent market for him is.

No one is keeping you here if you don't like the league. And there has been discussion about implementing a rule that would negate a teams ability to inflate the base salary dramaticaly from year to year, meaning that if you wanted to spend $30 Million on someone it would have to come at a rather high bonus cost.

Again, I reiterate, the game is inherintly flawed in the area of economics, there is only so much that can be done outside of it regarding rules and regulations, some of which we've already implemented and some of which will further be addressed.

This Free Agency market and League Economy is a Joke until we come up with a resolution and a fix no matter how much jester wants to defend it.
So do tell me who jacked the Cap setting up at the outstart of this league to begin with. Cause really I dont care if we are playing at the same level its like baseball out here blank checks to everyone let me offer 15 mil to people worth 700k so other people cant get them etc. put a vote up i bet you 20 out of 32 owners thinks that this economy is an issue and im not talking about the US economy.
how can you not understand how it ruins our free agent class every year. I can.

Everyone plays under the same rules dont make them good rules.
I think it would just be ignorant to not have an open discussion about it since it seems that the majority of the league would agree that it is in some way shape or form a problem.
I understand you want to bury it under the rug and hide it because now that its this bad you dont have a plan to fix it but we could still discuss it and possible resolutions.
its 3-2 cause only 5 people have been on tonight.

and you guys run the league so of course your gonna defend what direction it has gone in.

              Wow

You sure know how to make friends in a new group hey

              Calm down a little

You haven't played a full season yet but you're trying to change everything and you're going at our commish's head. You should step back a little and learn more about the league and how things work before trying to change everything. This league is there for a while and working well.

This subject have been discussed in EVERY league I'm in and honestly, there's no way to fix that problem. You can change the situation just a little but you will never see superstar players in free agency unless a GM abandon his team. Reducing the cap doesn't make a big difference and you will not see more players in free agency. I don't like this fact, but I can live with it because I don't have a choice.

The other solutions are not within the game and complicated to enforce. In the NAFL, we can't renegociate contracts unless the player is in the last year of his contract. It help a little, but a lot of job for the commish.

Honestly, I don't really care if we put the cap setting to the minimum but it will not change anything.

Earlier in the thread you suggested something at least be looked into. Might I suggest you actualy famaliarize yourself with the game before suggesting things that simply arn't feasible.

You can make rules outside the game so why not implement a new Salary Cap outside of the game? I mean really. I want to see a vote on who actually enjoys playing the game with an open check book. Im not saying it makes or breaks my gameing expirence but yeah this isn't how a GM simulation should work nor a league the idea of being a GM is to have to manage economics aswell Didnt know we were playing on infant mode Avalon Hill board games ages 6-12 . btw I never seen this problem in the other league I was in.

And you obviously can't or won't. You seem to want the economics to fall into a familiar mode. That's not management. Assessing the situation and adjusting appropriately is management.

I'm not going to delve too deep into this discussion, but:

                            1) Outside the game rules almost never work. A "minor" rule such as the one we have about bonuses is sometimes broken due to people not remembering. Having an "outside the game" salary cap will never work for 32 people to remember.

                            2) I the other league you're in, how many seasons had it lasted? How do we know that in 6 years, the NFL will not be running rampant? Yeah, we're in a "depression" right now in real life, but maybe the IFL never went through a world where the economy went belly up. 20 years ago, no one could imagine the NFL cap being where it is today.. in game it's 2015.. things change.. not always to the better.

I just explained that I'm willing to learn whatever system is thrown at me and adjust.

You want it your way. Exactly the way you want it. It's ok as you said to accept a $710k contract so you're ok with increased offers just not over your arbitrary limit. No extent at all to learn nor adjust. You've even brushed aside every point made and simply repeat yourself as others directy respond to your statements.

                              Infant mode? Irony.

Its funny that this came up because i was just thinking about this recently. It is a problem the league needs to figure out. Part of this sim that i like is the salary cap. I like the challenge of trying to assemble the best roster i can with a certain amount of funds. It feels like every team is the Yankees and has a open checkbook. The cap doesn't restrict teams like it should. Its a challenge that i miss with this game.

Front Office Football is a cool game and i have enjoyed my time being in this league. The game has surely gone to shit though as time has went on. There is off the field problems such as this one here were talking about. Then there is on the field problems too that just don't make no sense. I hate to say it but this game has become a joke. Most of us here though just can't stop playing it because its basically the only thing out there that comes close to what we want out of a football sim.

Back to the problem being discussed. I don't know the inner workings of the game. I don't play single player hardly ever. In my opinion, just about every team has too much money. There is enough money to go around that i have no problem keeping every player i want on my roster. Everyone else can do the same thing. Free agent class every year is a joke. I think its time to address the problem. I'm just a competitive person and want the salary cap to become a MAJOR part of this game. The game has become unrealistic.

The only reason the past few seasons there may have been some excellent free agents on the market like Torres was because of owner neglect as far as not putting in exports. It was not because of cap problems these players were let go.
