If it wasn't for his size, I would've taken Ike Cook. I tought for a minute to draft him and switch him to safety, but I finally decided to pick MLB Vernon Galloway

It's a big need for us, has great combine scores and my scout thinks he's underrated. He better be right.

Glad to see Ellis fall into our lap. I'd have taken him at 3 if I wasn't able to trade down. While I'd have prefered a CB, I wasn't going to reach for Boyd in the top 5. Ellis' combine indicates he's going to be quite the stud once his bars boom a bit.

I had MLB Galloway underrated as well.

Fullbacks arent normally taken in the 1st. But most arent game changers. With his bars I think he could be a RB or TE. I needed something to shake up RB Battles and maybe this is it. I like taking gambles. That said, I even moved up to make sure I got him.

My scout may be wayyyyyyy off, but Ellis is an interesting choice. While he is graded high this is how I see him:

              Top 10 pick?

For sure. His ratings are going to be good.. He's a 70-75 Future. Bet ya. Combines dont lie.

                    Yea they do.

Of course, the last time a Big Ten tackle swaggered into the combine with this big a rep, it was 2004. His name was Robert Gallery, out of Iowa. "Gallery ... is the most foolproof pick in this year's draft," declared The Sporting News.
Three years later, after an array of defensive ends have blown past Gallery and pulverized a variety of Oakland Raiders quarterbacks, nobody is calling Gallery foolproof. "Bust" is the more common term.
Gallery is instead proof of the foolish notion that a fast 40-yard dash and a monster day at the bench press are the tickets to success in the NFL.
Back in '04, Gallery dazzled everyone by running a 4.95-second 40 at the combine. At 6-7 and 325 pounds, this qualified him as a bona fide freak.
                    Too bad he can't play.
I think Gallery tied the best ever combine score for an offensive lineman in the history of the combine. But as we know now, the guy is a total bust.

Every pick is a possible bust. And, yes he could be. Check my guy:
For instance :Willie Roaf 6-5 300 lbs 49/65
                      Volatility-Very High(88)
                      Solecismic Test-Very High(40) Red
                      40-Yard Dash-5.03 seconds Red
                      Bench Press-33 reps Blue
                      Agility Drill-7.52 seconds Red
                      Broad Jump-8ft 9in Blue
                      Developed-48%

                      I took him 16th. He is 70/75.

While I agree somewhat Boyd was a bit of a reach at the 4 slot, the opportunity to have 2 solid cornerbacks on the team was to good to pass up. You have to remember, for the last 7 seasons I had Grady "Money" Gomez ripping me a new ass, and when he was traded, now I have Don Gomez to deal with for the next decade. God I friggin hate that name now!!!

Ellis scared me off. Something is fishy with that guy. This draft seems to have a lot of depth but no huge stars, so reaching to get the guy you want is really not reaching. At 1.6 there was like 6 guys I couldnt decide about. They look a lot better after trading down.

                              My list was set as:

                              1. Nicky Doyle
                              2. Wade Boyd(based on need rather then pure talent)
                              3. Barry Mendenhall
                              4. Jay Alcott (going to be a stud)
                              5. Michael Cibella

Based on what I see, Ellis is just not a top 10 pick. But again, I think my scout may be misrepresenting him.

Ellis definately didn't rock my boat, I'll tell you that much.

Hadn't Tyrell Smith been taken by Texas (you bastards) he would have been my pick at 14. Sammy Kayser might just have been my most reliable player after Virgil for the past 6 seasons and Smith could very well have filled his shoes.

Now I'm back to the drawing board.. no standouts at "my" positions available, so I'll be going for depth most likely.
