i think Jave is calling this the wrong term. its not an "exploit". an exploit is something that one person figures out when trying to screw over a league. this 2 year deal is known by all, and its up to the individual GM if they want to run their team that way. if someone wants to cover their eyes and pretend no one else is doing it, so be it. but its not exploiting the game. we all have equal opportunity to offer whatever deal we want. if you don't want to offer a deal that you know an FOF player (not a real life player, but an FOF player, there's a difference) would take, then, Bobby Brown, that's your perogative.

If a player has two offers. .

        Offer 1 2 years/13 mil
        10 mil bonus
        Year 1 - 1 Mil Salary
        Year 2 - 2 Mil Salary

        Offer 2 5 years/45 mil
        5 Mil Bonus
        Year 1 - 5 Mil
        Year 2 - 6 Mil
        Year 3 - 7 Mil
        Year 4 - 8 Mil
        Year 5 - 9 Mil

In the IFL, the player will take option 1 even though after the first year the player would have gotten more money from option 2 by the second year. But what is to keep the owner from cutting him after the first year? Nothing since the the guarenteed money is almost nothing. The two year deal is pretty much all guarenteed, and the player wil get another gauenteed paycheck after the 2nd year, or more than likely renegotiate for another big signing bonus after year one.

I think the system is working as intended. If an owner is willing to put out the big bonus money, which is a risk even in a two year deal, let him.

You may have a point here about the players not asking enough when the contract's up but I don't think the answer is limiting ourselves in the ways that we offer FA contracts. I still think that we all operate under the same cap so it balances out.

I feel guilty now because according to this definition I exploit every player on my team every week.

I finally got the point of Jave's rant...I evidently am the only one who didn't know that this is a exploited strategy. The biggest problem is the renegotiation at the end of the contract. Something I never thought about.

Na, it seems the majority of the league is cool with it, and like I said from the start, it's not a game breaker or anything. My opinion is, it IS an exploit, but as long as the entire league understands thats the standard I am cool with it. Like I told Jeff, better to find out losing an average player, then not knowing and losing a player like Kao!!

This was a great discussion and aside from one post, everyone had great input and opinions. Thats why I stay in this league. Every single owner here is intelligent and mature and isn't afraid to say it like it is or hear it like it is.

Well, except for Dberner who is a complete tard:shoot:

                  Jave,
I figured you'd know that the game engine has changed when it comes to restructuring. How much did Bice want again? In 2004 he would've played for free.

He came down to 8 this year from 12.5, he wanted 11 mill next year, and then it added a year which was 5 mil. But of coarse when I released him, he only wanted 1.6 was it? And no, honestly I don't read the FOF forums or the patch notes so it may be my fault, but I didn't see him comming down to 3 mil a year from 8 so I just released him.

i don't read the forums either. I just figured guessed on my own experiences. Same as Crespo. In 2k4, he would've resigned for a shitty contract. In 2k7, he wants cash like nothing's happened to him. I think there must be some code now that bases contract demands against current salary. I could be way off here, but my limited experience tells me such.

Yea, I wonder if anyone has brought this to Jim's attention? I know Jeff and Suicane frequent the FOF boards, mabe they can let us know.

What? Are you kidding? Look at his loyalty rating. The fact he would give another team a 10 million dollar salary break, but he wouldn't budge for the team who has paid him handsomely for 5 years with a loyalty rating as high as he has.....thats a bug.

or he's a stud player who still thinks he's the man.
It only took the team that was loyal to him for so many years to have to cut his ass. Then he realizes he's not worth the money he was asking.......or he needs to show that he can still do his bizzness
