I don't think missing 4 games will affect the contract. It's more telling when a guy misses most of the season.

[ifl]Stanfield[/ifl] has already missed 5 games. So missing four more would mean he has missed most of the season.

My opinion is that dberner's comments were appropriate. He didn't rip jester, just gave his opinion and asked the league to discuss something. I think that's a better outcome than having everything done in secret. Jester has thick enough skin where something like that won't hurt him.

I'm not bashing him for the comments, I really do appreciate him keeping an eye out on things like that to keep up the integrity of the league, but at one point he even labeled it as cheating in his opinion, which I think was getting into the territory where it probably should have remained private.

I know Jester does have thick skin, but not everyone does and saying a sensitive person was cheating could have resulted in some big bullshit drama fest that I doubt anyone here wants.

Just my 2cents I guess.

I was curious. . ran a SP league. . superstud QB. . .played him the entire season and he went to Bowl game and lost. . wanted 5yrs 93mil to resign the next year

Reloaded, resimmed for 12 weeks, and sat him out for 5, missed playoffs (because they lost the last 5 games) wanted 5yrs 66mil

Reloaded, sat him out 9 games, wanted 5yrs 18 mil

Reloaded again, sat him out one game, 5yrs 73mil. . .but he didn't make it to the bowl game, lost in the conf champ.

he was still content after each run. . so he would resign. . .

This seems like a bug. . .if a player is injured for half a season, he is going to take a pay bump. . but a star player, uninjured who sits for half a season because the team doesn't want him to play? No way! and he ain't taken a 50 mil pay cut either. I think sitting healthy players for contract reductions is a no-no.

protecting a player for a playoff run, no worries. Sitting a player the last couple weeks to test drive a rookie? no worries. Reducing a star players reneg? Nope. I do not believe that it is in the best interest of the league.

Damn it! I think I actually agree with DB. . I hate when that happens!

i don't care what anyone else does, as long as it's not blatant cheating. i worry about my own team.

that having been said, maybe a rule where you can sit players out the last game of the season, but not anything more than that.

but when you consider we'll have the rust factor in 2k7, this may even be moot.

I'll be starting Stanfield this week but if he gets injured I'm going to quit the league and cry myself to sleep. :twisted:

Ironic that the thing that was misconstrued as my main motivation for sitting Stanfield would end up being the reason to play him. A $50M difference is pretty insane.

I sentered my thoughts, and I bet db did as well, on the contract negotiation because that was the only part that seemed a bit odd to me. Now that I've played it out with a very small test sample, I think that reason is wrong. But the others are ok.

Hopefully the rust will correct the problem in 2007

hopefully. . but it isn't really an issue. .. I know I wouldn't rest a game impacting star unless I had the 1st or 2nd seed wrapped up. I would think most also see it that way. . there is a wierd one every once in a while. . .

lets be clear...if i thought he was a cheater i would have called him a cheater...we exchanged PMs and im cool with him...i have been in the league since day 1 and if i see something questionable then i will toss it out to talk about...this isnt a topic intended to get people upset...the focus for me was the issue of the lower contract...thats why i questioned the issue...as most of you know the cap is a key part of FOF and if you can circumvent the cap you have a serious advantage...

most of you are probably aware of a cheater or two (a real cheater) who were banned from most leagues because of extremely questionable cap issues that gave them a serious advantage...there were bugs in the older versions that have been patched that required house rules to keep the cap sacred...there have even been hard cap rules because the game doesnt properly penalize for cap overages...this is just one more item that needed talking about so we all could weigh in and make sure the game stayed fun and fair...no personal grudges...no hatred...i thought the talk was pretty clean...(Except when the nasty pig rancher agreed with me---that was uncalled for)....

thanks though to the rash for his play test that highlighted the issue in a concrete format...glad to see all is well and ends well...no hard feelings on my part...hopefully none for the rest of the crew here...

and i think the rust is at any point in the season...if you have a guy miss a few games with an injury they can end up with rust...so same would hold true for guys who dont get enough reps...

for example i have OL guy who played about 5 or 6 reps a game on offense and 3 to 5 Special teams plays and he has rust...same for a RB who has had 278 special teams plays over 12 games...he has significant rust...it can get you...dont know the impact but its not just a preseason and first of year issue.

In hindsight I think this played out almost ideally. Knowing this was a controversial move I stated early in the week what my possible intentions were in an attempt to be pro-active towards any problems, which did arise. Through discussion amongst any GM interested in joining my option has since been self-closed and the league (files-wise) should continue untainted.

Going forward I hope more controversial decisions are broadcast as loud as this one beforehand to be "safer than sorry" as they say.

I also hope that my name isn't broadcast negatively in the FOF sorority. Seriously, you guys talk "he said/she said" like a bunch of little girls.
