I think this trade should be vetoed as there is no room in the NC for a CB of Mackenzie's caliber.

    Great addition Tarcone!

I didn't either. between Beaver and Gilpin both retiring at their 9th and 10th years, respectively, i decided to implement a new team rule that we don't trade for anyone over 7 years experience, unless its for a silly deal. he offered McKenzie to me, but i wanted Mangum more.

wait, you just underwent a complete and massive rebuilding, going full out with a youth movement after gutting your team *as recently as last season*, and now you're aquiring guys who have a 2, maybe 3 year window tops? that makes sense to you?

McKenzie is great and is worth what you paid for him, but he doesn't belong on your team. you aren't 2 years away from competing for a championship, McKenzie will be retired by the time you're ready to take the next step. if you're gonna commit to a rebuilding program you gotta stay the course. no one told you to gut your team but you decided that's what you needed to do, aquiring 9 year vets is now being counterproductive.

Or we just came off a 3 game win streak. My Oline is awesome, I have a great RB and an emerging star at QB. This rebuild is going into its 3rd season. I fully expect to contend for a playoff spot this season. The DBs I had wont help me. So obtaining an 82/82 CB solves part of that problem. Plus, I had players emerge that I didnt think would emerge that quickly.
I I get the right player at 1-4 this season, I could win my division.

Thanks for your concern HA, I appreciate it.

                  ya ya.

I couldn't pass this offer to Mackenzie.

Thanks to all the teams that showed interest and made offers.

i don't coach the games, i just put good teams together. once the games are simmed its a flip of the coin. McKenzie should've went to a team like Portland, St. Louis or Wichita - teams that are playoff contenders and just needed one or two more good players to put them over the hump and whose windows are gonna be closing in about 2 years - the same amount of time McKenzie will be one of the top 10 CBs in the leagues.

this is like Pacman Jones. he's going to Dallas, a team that was a championship contender and just fell short. he can put them over the top. Pacman Jones wouldn't go to a team like the Raiders cuz they aren't anywhere close to competing for a playoff spot.

Tulsa winning their last 3 games doesn't mean they should abandon their rebuilding phase. that just means their rebuilding phase is going according to plan. whatever.

To paraphrase from Rounders: "If it's all a coin flip then why's the same team (Norfolk) in the AC Finals every season? What's r00k the luckiest guy in the FOF community?"

well, i wasn't in the league from the beginning. many of the teams that have great cohesion are the same teams using the superstars they drafted in the inaugural season. i'm slowly building my core - i got RB, TE, 3 WRs, an LB and a CB. little by little. take a look at NFK and there's a lot of guys they've had since the beginning. not making excuses, just pointing out facts. doesn't help that he's a good gameplanner, but i'm in another league with r00K and he isn't exactly lighting it up (real NFL rosters). in that league i'm contending for a playoff spot. it's all flip of the coin, otherwise Portland would've won 3 championships by now.

case in point, California/Fresno must have got shit out of the inaugural draft. NFK has 16 guys they've drafted since 2005, 8 of them since the inaugural draft. California only has 6 guys from 2005, 4 of them from the inaugural draft. i wasn't controlling the team way back then, this is just the hand i was dealt. i'll put my team-building ability up against anyone, especially r00k's. he's just a good gameplanner, i'm not. but it's not just NFK, it seems pretty much everyone has a good handful or two of players from that 1st draft.

Little Rock: 19 players drafted since 2005, 9 players still remaining from the inaugural draft
Portland: 13 players from 2005, 9 remaining from the inaugural draft
St. Louis: 12 players from 2005, 10 remaining from the inaugural draft

it's no surprise why the same teams win year after year, it's cuz they had the advantage of starting out good and having players good enough to be worth keeping all these years. one of the disadvantages of a fictional league that starts out with a draft. but it's ok. just don't go saying this guy is great and that guy isn't. if we play long enough all of the players that you guys have had since the beginning will be gone, and teams like California or Tulsa (should) be tops since we've started collecting our young main cogs that will be the main guys in the league 5 years from now. it's all cyclical. no one is any better or worse than the next guy, all we can do is assemble the team, after that the AI takes over and its out of our hands.

I try not to get caught up in such, but HA, please report what is happening in that league accurately. No disrespect to your skills as a GM, but ...

                              1. That league is only in its first year, for Christ's sake. A draft has not even occured and all teams were inherited. The teams were composed of this year's NFL's rosters.

                              2. You picked the defending champs, NY Giants - Eli and all. I came in late and was so lucky to get the second to last team left - Buffalo - a real powerhouse.

                              3. At the beginning of the season, Buffalo had the lowest rating in the power ratings (and FYI, I only took the team as a research project to see how long it would take to build a bottom feeder to a contender)

                              4. The Bills were the most active in the preseason and I am starting eleven rookies. Buffalo's power rating has risen 12 spots in the power ratings since the season began.

For the cards that were dealt, I am comfortable with that direction and feel confident that the plan is on the right road for the future. I never for one had thoughts of the playoffs this year. In fact, my goal was to win at least one game since I was starting 11 rookies. I have now won 4 and you have won 6.

I have never taken any pot shots at how you manage or approach game strategy. I for one think that you are very dedicated. Sorry, but this was a bit off base.
