I think guys need to pay some more attention to team stats from last year. Lansing had one of the worst defenses last season. While they led the league in takeaways, they were 30th in yards per attempt allowed, 27th in rushing yards allowed, and 30th in points allowed. Their only key addition on defense is John Ash, who will help, but that much? I don't think so.

Pittsburgh has had one of the better pass defenses in the league for some time now. As far as I know, they only play bump-n-run, so there's little use in valueing his secondary strength by their overall ratings. Look at the stats: 3rd-best in yards per attempt allowed and 5th-best in points allowed.

The point? Ratings must translate to good stats, because stats are the bottom line.

I agree with you there. There are a lot of players that are good system guys, but aren't necessarily good overall players.

I think Pittsburgh and Hartford are 2 teams that play exclusive defenses and their secondaries reflect these skill sets

Actually, Lansing has also lost Edwards for much of the season. My team led the league in sacks last year, which means we were among the league leaders in hurries, which is a big reason why we were up there in terms of pass defense.

I'm aware of your line and their effect on your pass defense, but they aren't the ones being shorted.

In defense of the writers, it is not difficult to overlook areas of the game when you are previewing 8+ teams....sometimes up to 16. You try to look at all areas of team, and the stats from last year are gone.

I know I personally find it difficult to compare stats from year to year, and go moreso based on opinions. I know it would be easy to load the stats from last year, but it makes it very time consuming switching over from year to year.

To compare year to year, what I do is open up two windows of FOF, then load a season into each. Don't mess around with it when you are doing an export though, I learned the hard way that it could lead to wrong stage errors.

Hit Dakota right on the money. And thanks for the press for those nice veteran starters who will be made available right before next year's draft.
