Well another season is in the books. Congrats to all the playoff teams, especially r00k and Cringer. It is truly an honor to be in the Imperial bowl.

At the end of the season I always look at the bottom line. There appears to be a negative trend here, and key league officals are said to be scrambling to right the ship. Below is a graphic which shows each teams financials

The league bottom line is definately trending in the wrong direction

Among the bad news, below is a graphic which shows the successful teams off of the field. These teams will be key to the success of the Imperial Football League

More to come from me as the offseason continues.

    Until next time,
    Vic

Don't forget that four teams are making payments for new stadiums.

I'm just guessing, but I imagine that a majority of owners aren't managing ticket prices effeciently as they could be either.

I've always struggled with this. I don't know what do to. Raise prices to balance things out, or lower them to attract more people.

I'd assume with sellouts, the only thing you can do is raise prices or spend less if you're not making money, but i'm far from selling out games right now.

Winning is the big factor in uping the number of ticket sales. Other then that, I have seen some teams lower prices and get a small increase in sales, but I don't know if it helped the bottom line much. Probably not.

In a bold move, I jacked up all my ticket prices as high as Newark's since Matt seems to be doing fairly well. In the process I took a huge attendance hit this past year. 68,000 to 33, 000. However, the increase in ticket price brought in more revenue with less people, than vice-versa. The only thing that drasticly reduced was no one sat in the upper deck. Next year I'm going to reduce those seats to about $5 and see what happens. I did take a revenue hit in concession sales due to lack of business, but over all still did better than last year with my low admission prices.

I can't wait to see what happens when the people of Dakota note our proposal to move to a bigger market.

I think that is one of the main reason are financials are so weak across the board. Newark is drawing from a pretty big population compared to Fargo.

Interesting. So it appears it's possible to make more money with less people, but now I have to factor in the crowd for home field.

I noticed you were 2-5-1 at home and 3-5 on the road this year opposed to 7-1 at home and 1-7 on the road the year before. I haven't watched your roster from year to year, so for all I know your team could have suffered injuries, or weird fluke losses last year.. or got more fluke wins the year before.

It would be interesting if there is a balance in the game.

Low ticket prices = More fans = Better chance to win.
Winning = More fans = Even better chance to win.

However the negative side of that is the start.

Low ticket prices = Less Revenue to start = Worse Coaching = Better chance to lose.
Losing = Less fans = Even better chance to lose.

Eh, I don't really know, just thinking out loud I'd really like to stop losing money though. Not like it really has a big impact on the game other than coaching I believe (it should impact other up front money too, like signing bonus), but I still don't like being near the bottom of this list every year

Mules dropped prices last season and despite picking 1st overall 2 years in a row, and fourth? this season, Ticket sales were up. Point is dropping prices seemed to have stabilized the attendance thing despite the losing. Could have something to do with the Palace the Mules play in also.

We were lucky walking into a nice situation financially.

I've always thought more fans= better home record........however, I have absolutely nothing to back this up

We are also fixing up our old stadium, so we have some money dumped into that. We've been paying slightly over $35 mil a year for it

This game has financials? I just assume all my money comes from a sugar momma, and since im such a stud, i'll never have to worry about a thing.

Great article Vic. Unlike Suicane, Portland's sugar momma isn't so giving of her cashflow. We've got some important decisions to make regarding ticket prices.

This is very cool stuff, Victor. Kudos.
                            Ticket sales are nice.
                            Concessions. Nice.
                            Parking. Sweet.

Not having to blow bonus money every season on re-negotiated contracts just to get under the cap?

                            Priceless.
