As we head into the season I have a few concerns. The first is that we're $1 Million over budget, luckily we have everyone signed who we want thru next year. The second is our 4th and 5th starters, Rawley has yet to prove anything at this level and Cormer is even more of a wild card. The last thing is the top of our lineup. Having no pure leadoff hitter we go with Buddy Bell as our leadoff man against righties and SS Jimmy Sexton against lefties. We do have a solid lineup with the addition of the youngster Sandberg who will hit in the 2 hole in front of Hernandez and Winfield. I don't expect huge things from this team but a 75-80 win season would make me happy, and maybe don't lose too much money.

On May 1st we're 15-13 and 6 games out of 1st place. Our team ERA is 5.11

On June 1st we're 32-27 and 8.5 games out of first. Our team ERA is down to 4.97. Andujar is 10-3.

            Amateur Draft Time!!
Round 1: RF Dante Bichette 60/93
Round 2: SP Terry Mullholand 50/87
Round 3: SP Jeff Ballard 47/86
Round 4: RP Bobby Thigpen 48/80
            Round 5: 2B Mario Duncan 50/72
Round 6: SP Rich Sauveur 47/80

On July 1st we're 42-41, our team ERA is 5.05. Joaquin Andujar leads the AL with 12 wins.
Minor league SS Tom McMillan retired.

August 1st and our record stands at 52-53, 11.5 games out of first place.

September 1st we stand at 62-69.

We finish the year a dissapointing 72-90 and 33 games out of first, a real 2nd half slide. The barely good news is that we finish the year with a Million dollar profit, so I can probably add some salary next year.

                1982 SEASON

We have a few arbitration cases and expiring contracts so let's deal with them.

Despite being solid, we let LF Charlie Beamon walk instead of haggling with him.

SS Jimmy Sexton only wants $80,000 so we give it to him.

C Ernie Whitt has sucked offensivly but he's a real solid defensive catcher, we give him 2 years at $335,000 per, a $90,000 raise.

RP Mike Willis wants a $65,000 pay increase for 3 years. We give it to him.

Before we go into Free Agency I want to look at guys who are entering the last year of their deals on our own team.

We extend SP Jerry Reuss 2 more seasons at only a $10,000 pay raise. Good deal.

We extend 3B Buddy Bell for 2 more seasons at a $70,000 increase.

CF Rupert Jones has struggled at the plate but he's an excellent defensive CF who is only 26. He's willing to to reup for an additional 3 years at only a $35,000 increase so we do it.

RP Romo Enrique has been up and down and he's 34 and wants a $300,000 pay increase. Eh, I think we'll let him walk after the season.

RF Dave Kingman will extend for a year at the same salary, okie dokie.

SS Jimmy Sexton takes a $30,000 cut to extend a year. Okie Dokie.

C Duffy Dyer takes a $10,000 cut to extend a year. Okily Dokily backy uppy catchery doodily.

LF Dan Thomas will take the same salary to stay but i'm not sure I want him at his current price. He may be gone after the season.

SS Larry Bowa is virtually decrepit at this point but for only $5000 more he extends for a season. I just can't let him go. lol.

Ok, with that out of the way lets look at some free agents and trades.

Our first move of the offseason is a deal with the Montreal Expos. We get 25 year old SP Scott Sanderson, rated 90/92 by our scouts. In exchange we give up 4 arms, SP Shane Rawley, SP Danny Cox, SP Randy Kramer and SP Matt Young. We gave up some solid arms but we think Sanderson can be a big addition to our starting staff right away and for many years.

Our next deal is another biggy. We get 2B and all around utility guy Alan Wiggins from Cleveland in exchange for LF Henry Cotto, RP Rick Rodriguez, SP Rich Sauveur, CF Herm Winnigham and RP Jeff Ballard. Wiggins is 23, rated 84/90 but has blazing speed and an excellent eye, this gives us a legit top of the lineup guy who can DH, play LF and reserve at any infield spot, a real nice deal.

Our only real free agent signing is SP Atlee Hammaker who is 23 years old and rated 83. He's been on KC for 4 years but hasn't started much, he'll be our 5th starter. The deal is 4 years at $485,000.

Spring training shows only 1 real thing I don't like and that's no progression from Ripken. He'll stay in AA this year and hopefully boom a bit. Mogul ratings are a bit weird, Wiggins has lost ratings since the trade but every key rating has stayed the same, i dunno, i could look deeper but that's not why i play the game.

Heres a look at what our lineups look like with some of the more detailed ratings for each guy.

We hiked our farm system and medical staff budgets to stay in the top 5 in the league but that dropped our payroll budget to $5.1 Million while our actual payroll sits at $7.6 Million. We do have $1.3 Million in cash but we'll be cutting it close.

OK then, let's rock & roll fother muckers!

i'd put Hernandez at 3rd. he's your best hitter and that's where you bat your best hitter. Ryne should be at 4th.

i wish baseball salaries were still that price. THEY'RE PLAYING A FUCKING GAME FOR A LIVING. they're not curing std's or anything useful.

While not a bad idea, that part of the lineup is no problem. If anything i'd think about moving someone down to shakeup the 6-9 spots.

On May 4th we're 15-16 and 8 games back, fuck all man. The bottom of our lineup is killing us and our top 3 starters are the shits.

On May 23rd we've climbed to 25-23 but Bob Stoddard, who has pitched great for us this year, has elbow tendinitis and needs to be shut down for the season Mike Willis gets the callup from AAA.

                            Amateur Draft times!
Round 1: RF Jay Buhner 60/94
Round 2: LF Pete Incaviglia 51/93
Round 3: SP Keith Brown 47/86
Round 4: SP Mike Capbell 47/84
Round 5: SS Ozzie Guilen 50/74
Round 6: RP Dan Murphy 46/81

June 6th, we're 32-29 and Rupert Jones tears up his knee and will miss the rest of the season, groovy gravy.
We have nobody in our system except for Milt Thompson who can play CF, we call him up and let him do whatever he can do.

On June 7th Allen Wiggins breaks his foot, effin awesome. 1B Jim Maler, a promising youngster gets called up and will DH and play LF splitting time with Kingman and Dan Thomas.

                            On July 1st we're 37-46

August 1st sees us at 47-59, Scott Sanderson has been awesome for us this season, about the only starter who has.

We finish the season 72-90, another fun year
We do have $600K in cash left so we lost money, but not alot.
