anyone gonna start/join a startup league with OOtP2006???

Probably the only way I would get this game would be if IFL had a bastard baseball league get going.

IF it was backwards compatible i might play in an imperial league league but I doubt ill be shelling out any cash for a new version. Im happy with Mogul oddly enough.
    I luv British womenz.

I just started playing OOTP5, having lots of fun. Maybe if an Imperial League started up I'd purchase '06, but I don't see a need to yet.

I used to be in a couple of Baseball Mogul leagues back about 6 years ago. Great fun, but back then you had to email your changes to the commissioner, and the commissioner had to do all the changes himself.

What attracts me to OOTP 2006 is the fact it is being 'FMed'. If you don't know that means itis being made like Football Manager (Worldwide Soccer Manager in the US). It should make OOTP much better, atleast to me. I have had a couple versions of OOTP and never got hooked by them. Something wasn't there. But '06 is still worth a shot I think, but......

I already got Puresim 2007, and I am liking it a lot. It has me hooked like OOTP never did, like FOF does. This is the first time I have played a version of Puresim. The first patch will be out soon, and hopefully it takes care of the few problems I have with it right now.

the FMed aspect is what intrigues me.

I could not care less about soccer so I have not considered FM but I have read up on it and IF I liked soccer it would be a must have.

So what about the new version of OOTP makes it significantly better, and on its way towards FM?

Well, OOTP is now owned my SI, the FM company. Our they are just putting it out, I don't remember. Anyways, the screen shots I have seen look pretty close to a baseball version of FM. I really like the interface of FM so that is a good thing to me. The SI people seem to really know how to put in a lot of the little stuff that put a game over the top of greatness.....well, with FM anyways. I have never played the hockey game they have.

Markus needs to really step up to the plate, because from the looks of it all the bad AI from versions previous is still there. And that's just too bad. I'd love an SI OOTP, but not if it distracts Markus from ever polishing the game to where it simulates baseball really well. Six versions in - this puppy should be king. Right now it's like a gay prince trying to devirginize a plump commoner.

                  that's quite an image.

I have only messed around with OOtP6.5. Seems ok to me.

What does the AI do wrong?

From my reading up on it SI is putting the game out but Markus is still doing the programming. I only have the latest free version of Eastside Hockey and it seems ok to me, but I have the same problem I have with soccer. I just do not understand hockey enought to put the effort into learning this game, even though it is free - lol

OOTP is a game in which I never watched or managed the games much. Crap, just simming seemed to take forever for me. So I don't know a ton about the AI problems.

With PureSim I am enjoying managing the games, which is one reason I am getting into it I think.

If jeff buys ootp 6 ill have to buy it as well, just so i can point flaws out to him.

Btw, ive heard the biggest part of an ootp league is a good website C/D?

What ever happened to the Imperial Fighting league? Fuckers.

I remember a guy in this league looking for a place to host his html pages that OOTP outputs. I offered, but asked the amount of space it would take up. I think he said it was like 250-350 MB. Just in the game's html output, dang man if that was true I would have to get more space.

I'll most likely be buying OOTP, and if someone does start a league, i'd probably like to join. Especially if it has a lot of the IFL people.

It would be cool to be in the same division as Kobeck, Suicane and Ragin. I enjoy seeing Suicane upset when he loses

I liked OOTP in prior formats and always wanted to get involved in a multi-payer environment.

However, multi-player for this game was not user friendly or commish friendly.

It looks like this rewrite is trying to address those shortcomings but I do not see how it will solve the many decisions that are made throughout a 162 day schedule that includes minor league teams as well. The enormity of detail just dooms a multiplayer environment and almost demands an export each day.

Reading the blogs, it looks like the initital release is still premature as there are alot of bugs being identified by the testors.

BUT ... with all that negative shit said ... an IFL based league would be awesome.

No need to. Everyone at FOFC is.
