'Jim's' game gripes

I have to admit I have been so dissapointed that I have not purchased yet

and still might not. The only reason to buy is for the IFL

As much as I would hate NOT being in the IFL I just dont know if I can throw more $ at Jim knowing this is just a klondike gold rush for him.

I won't bore you with the many ways the improvements have dissapointed me, but just want to get this in the public here.

Dont get me wrong I am like 90% certain I will hold my nose and pay the money, but I aint gonna lie I would be happier if the IFL did not upgrade at this time


I understand why it must be done, what with the politics at the support level and all, but jeeze it would be nice to not have to be ripped off by Jim

i think you should try it out first for sure.

it's not customizable at all. I know that there are some that really wanted this type of game. Jim has spent his time developing the game engine to produce realistic stats. For me, that's where I like it. I'd love for an expansion team.....but that's not going to happen. I'd love to see a canadian city on the list of locations......but that still doesn't happen either. Overall all though, I think there is something quantifiable there with this new game. cap management is going to be fun in this version.

FOF has run it's cycle for me. I haven't tried the new demo/game and can't point to anything specific but as a (visual) gamer and football fan GLB2 (which is free/cheap) pulled me entirely away from FOF in a moment, though it took me until recently to know it (IFL) was all over... at least for now.

I agree give it a shot before you quit. You might be surprised. The core stat engine and game-planning is still there. I also hear that it will matter more if you build a balanced team. Winning on a strong D is back in play. So those players who wish to build a more balanced team will be rewarded. Also, the game has been stream-lined somewhat. Plus, the contract negotiations are more realistic. It's gonna be harder to field a stacked team now with these new contract demands. All players that figure to play wanna get payed now.

GLB2 is some BS -- Sorry Blaze, I joined this morning and so far, I'm not impressed esp not enough to ditch FOF for it; this shit is stupid

I agree. I think Jim knew he was about to have stiff competition from a company who has much more resources and he just wanted to pump out one last cash grab before he retired FOF. I dont feel like purchasing this crap either esp at this price. Its a glorified patch and I have to pay full brand new game price for it. ridiculous. With the amount of lackluster effort that was put into this new game and no imaginative REAL changes to the game or UI... He should be charging 10-15 dollars for this garbage because it seems like its a DLC and not a completely new game worth the money of a new game.

I never thought that I'd be going out whole-heartedly agreeing with DG but that seems to be the case. I might stick around for $10-15 with my current low interest level just to keep things going.

What?? You don't like paying $37 for an update that probably would have been patched into their game for free by many other companies??

To be fair, he did add some stuff that deserved a little bit of money, but this is a $10 update at best.

One of the big selling points was the new game engine he built, but that should have been done on his own time at his own cost. You build a new game engine, and then you develop a nice game around that. You don't build a new game engine, slap 95% of your old game on it and sell for 3x the cost of far better independent games you can find on steam.

The only reason I bought FOF7 was the IFL. On the flip side, there is a very big chance I will be buying the OOTP version, playing single player and also looking for an online league.

DG and I agree about something. This whole thing feels like a money grab. Its been how many years and how many threads have been started over on OS about possible improvements and he ignored 90% of them, made very few changes and charged full price for basically nothing. He didn't even change the frikkin UI. I mean seriously. Its insulting.

Haha, well why change greatness, right?

Seriously though, he did change the UI a little. He somehow made it uglier until readers made him new graphics. It takes a special kind of talent to take 1992 graphics and make them look worse.
