Wow finally a win, based on our defense as our attack is not working at all and now even less as we had our two main Guards injuried and will keep that way for the whole season.

I am still shaken from the excitement. Unbelievable game \Originally posted by Hammettcheck out the last two minutes of the hartford/boston game if you want to see an exciting ending
1st play from scrimmage - 85 yd bomb
two bocked punts ... one for a TD
56 yard bomb to go ahead with less than a minute
winning play on last play of the game.
Good game.
r00k ... and still shaking from disbelief.

Tough game to watch on the viewer. 1st possession for CLE we stopped him with a 8 yd loss on a sack. But wait -- QB fumbles CLE player runs it the 8 yds + the other 6 or so for a 1st and they go on to score. Follow that with blocked punt and a short TD for CLE its 14-0 without much effort. Then it goes 21-0 before WIC knew the game was on. From there we managed to play better defense and score some points and get the win.Kcin wrote:
Cleveland season continues to go down mainly to injuries. Another teeth clenching loss to division rival Wichita. 5 offensive linemen are now out. I am stunned my team is even competing with this type of injury destruction. How my team ran for 300 yards with 80 percent backups and recent free agent signings starting on my OL is amazing. The only positive thing to come out of this game is my team took out Wichita's QB for six weeks and dinged up their top WR.
Kcin, your team was up 21-0 after one quarter and you had 320 yards rushing for your team. I don't think this loss can be blamed on your injuries. Lack of a passing game doesn't help, and you had 4 turnovers that got you. Maybe give Wichita a little credit for just plain having a better team eh?
My defensive game plan was revised for this game to bring the big blitz. Lot of blitzing and a lot of 2 and 3 extra rushers coming. Got burned regularly on the big blitz by the running game. Thought witth the weakened O line now was a chance to get some big defensive plays. NOT.GM Wichita Outlaws

BTW for those in the know.... seems like maybe the 3-4 is ineffective no matter how much pressure you bring thanks to the tweaks for the latest patches. Seems to me with CLE O line being non-existent due to injury they would be a prime candidate to get blitzed into oblivion. All it seemed to do is take my LBers out of the game.
Just wondering from a purist game standpoint.GM Wichita Outlaws

I dunno man---I trumpet Tart more than anybody (didn't you read the "Who's the Best Running Back in the IFL post?). Yes I shopped him because a have a roster that rates an overall 56 and a defense that gives it up like J-lo. I fear that I won't be able to build the team fast enough to still have Tart when I get everything else ready---it's MY team, I can do that.Originally posted by sovstarI think you were the only one that argued that he wasn't very important, whether it was directly implied or not (your putting him on the block and discussions with me).Originally posted by VitoStallionI fear this 4 weeks without Tart may shut the window on the playoffs for us. Booker needs a running game to be effective as it seems to set up my downfield game.
Anybody that argued that Tart isn't that important to SLC should watch how pathetic the team becomes over the next 3-4 weeks without him. This is gonna get ugly
I try to have fun here but I'd be damned you're ever going to let me. Maybe its just me and Jave but you come across as a jerk (I had another word in mind) in your posts man---others debate things, but you seem to be set on ridiculing others.
Let's see: You blasted my draft and my free agency moves, yet my pick just won me a game where "I" anticipated he could; you came after me on free agency moves and the guy YOU told me I should have picked up is out of the season, right? Oh and the game plan that sent your Fire into a tailspin in Salt Lake was dismissed as poor play by your team---no credit to me at all as I recall it.
Like I said maybe it's just me...

Hopefully you didn't blitz above 50-60 in the 3-4---that's a no no as I've found out. I get the best results (read: my defense doesn't get butt-raped as much) with the Blitz down around 40-45. This goes back to my argument that Jim has not created a game that can feature a defensive minded philosphy. This has devalued the merits of the DT and LBs. For instance look at the Mules and the Toads, they feature the best DTs in the game. They SHOULD be hard to run on but they each give up a very healthy amount of rusing yards a game----not saying their game planning is the problem at all. I just don't think the engine gives enough weight to a defense esp. one that has been to together for 2-3 seasons. maybe next year will see more improvements in that area.
I love the game in spite of the little quirks[Vito]Stallion

No arguements from me here. My run D is not very good at all, and althoug gameplanning may be a small part of the problem (even though I do not think so since I have been able to have top rated defenses before in MP) I think what you say about DT's has some truth to it. LB's maybe not so much to me, but then again I never run a 3-4.Originally posted by VitoStallionThis has devalued the merits of the DT and LBs.
