The Commissioner looks set on making it happen.
Momentum is growing.
In my opinion it will happen.....whether it's successful long term is another question altogether.
DG can clamp his eyes shut, put his fingers in his ears and shout La La La as much as he likes. He'll get left behind as an irrelevance. Meh.sigpic

One of my fondest memories is driving the Al-Can highway from Alaska, through the Yukon and British Columbia Provinces and emerging Montana. The Al-Can through the Yukon back in 1990 was, at times exciting. One lane through the mountain ranges.
I remember when we hit BC we stopped at a cabin rental place to sleep, and it was all honor system. Put your name in the book, put the money in the box, take a key from the shelf.
Canada was a blast! Love that country.sigpic

London's travel might actually be a positive thing to young NFL players, who if you haven't noticed, are being targeted more and more these days.
The NFL could give an overseas team more home games to offset the travel.
Everything is about balance. I remember this wild progressive thinker once said "Everything's relative". All you have to do is adjust other variables to remedy the problem(s) you have with certain current ones in any situation.
The NFL is probably the best run system in the world right now. They can easily figure out most issues by throwing $$$ at a progressive thinker.

I personally believe it's a pipe dream. something that will always be there but won't gather enough steam to make it happen.
the NFL wants to get to LA first. I think that will happen at some point in the next 10 years. As much as I want or think we deserve a team in Toronto, that will never happen as long as Buffalo exists. Buffalo gets 40% or more of their revenue already from Canadians going to the games. If a team other than the Bills went to Toronto, the Bills would be in serious trouble.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR

I'd honestly rather keep the Bills in Buffalo. Going to a game in Toronto doesn't even compare to going to Buffalo. Just a great experience with passionate fans.Originally posted by BOSS View PostMight get your wish when Ralph Wilson dies.
right now Toronto doesn't have a fan base devoted to a team. the Bills games held in TO are just marketing. most of the people that go there are NFL fans not Bills fans. they aren't cheering for a team, they're cheering for players. It looks terrrible on TV.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR

As long as the CFL is around Canada will never allow the NFL in. I recall when Toronto tried to have a team in the WFL [1970’s] The Northmen signed Larry Cszonka and Jim Kickk to try a win support. The Canadian government passed a law outlawing ANY American [NFL] style team to play in the borders as a permanent team. That law is still on the books and stopped the Bills from moving to Toronto twice already.
The Michigan Panthers of the USFL was also started as a Toronto franchise but moved to Detroit rather than spend the money fighting the CFL. I guess never underestimate the power of the people who run the CFL to keep that law in place. If it comes down it would be the end of a great football league.

Only if everything's equal to begin with. If the overseas team starts at a disadvantage, which is what I'm hearing, then giving them more home games should be an equalizer.Originally posted by Beeznik View PostWould that not give the overseas team an unfair competitive advantage though? Like I said, it may happen, but it doesn't mean it's a good idea.
If they prove this West Coast disadvantage thing, which I don't think is true, then a simple point spread would equalize it.
If one fighter is dominating all his competition then he could simply be required to run a few miles right before the fight.
My point is simply that balance can always be achieved by adjusting variables in the equation.

Michigan Panthers were originally a Toronto franchise?? Why would a Canadian city be one of the first 12 cities in the UNITED STATES football league?? I know there is an agreement between CFL and NFL reguarding raiding rosters.
I think it might be as simple as honoring all existing contracts. Also I know the CFL aint stupid and times their offseason crap, as much as possible, around NFLs timetable.
I miss CFL being on TV here, I hated all that punting on 3rd down and the fly patterns on 1st and goal from the 1 - lolsigpic

"The Canadian Football Act (1974) was a proposed Act by the Parliament of Canada in April 1974 designed to give a government-protected monopoly over professional football in Canada to the Canadian Football League. Although it was never signed into law, the move by the government eventually compelled the World Football League's Toronto Northmen, a team that was originally set to play in Toronto, to move to Memphis, Tennessee in the United States as the Memphis Southmen.Originally posted by BOSS View PostNo such law was ever passed.

Today, there is speculation that a similar act will develop if the National Football League tries to expand to Toronto and thus threatens the Canadian league's existence.[1]"
This took all of 2 seconds and Wiki to find. I'd say "Derrrrrr" but I'm not Republican and have too much class, which equals any class at all, not a high bar to surmount. Good luck in 2016 with your gay-hating, non-white hating, non-me hating form of "gathering"... rofl.
I know your response will be "just speculation", but there was speculation that "Obama will win" and there was speculation that the "Earth isn't flat" and there's speculation that "Republicans need to suck the hispanic dick, though surprisingly with enough dick-sucking experience, they can't handle a foreign one and mishap their selfish message to get the dick in their mouth".
*************
Regarding LA: I've said it before but here it is again: LA is not a "team city" it's a "me-first" city. Football doesn't belong regardless of population. The Lakers and "Magic", "Kareem", "Shaq", "Kobe" rule and will rule even when there's no wins nor superstars... The Clippers will continue to gain "Laker-hater" money... Football is beyond their comprehension... though I hope they'd someday evolve.
