  • Double Sim Week Discussion

This topic started picking up steam in the other thread but got lost in the other issue.

People were discussing whether or not the league should increase the amount of double weeks per season, and I wanted to keep the discussion going since this is a good time to do it.

Perhaps if there is enough interest and discussion, Matt or Suicane can poll it.

I think the double sim weeks should be coordinated with the real world calendar. Have as many or as few as makes sense with upcomming holiday ect..

Personally I'd rather have quicker seasons, so I wouldn't mind all double sim weeks. My problem is mostly when we have like 2-3 random ones. I get so used to Sunday games, sometimes I'll forget to check back on the forum until fri-sat and get hit with the surprise of a Thursday game.

I'd be in favor of something like double sim weeks for the first 5-6 real life weeks, which bangs out 11 games+bye for most. Then slow for the stretch.

This sounds like a good plan. Like Argot said in the other thread it can be a hell of a wait for a rebuild 2 year real life. Someone really has to stick with it and be patient.

I dont think I am the only one to think this but some of the most exciting parts of this league are the off season and the draft and thats really where we see the highest participation levels too. I mean I am all for shortening the time between off seasons by a couple weeks you know?

I vote no. I joined this league because it is slower and fits with my work schedule.

It doesn't matter, I'm just going to crush you this season!

Are there not still plenty of 2 game/week leagues? I'm willing to test adding a single 'nother double game week to the schedule but if you want a 2 game/week league why not join one?

Regarding the off-season: I personally have liked the off-season less and less. I don't enjoy any of the non-IFL conversation and instead of writing an IFL article when there's "nothing to do but wait for another GM" GMs would rather bitch in the chat room.

I would be for adding just 1 as well.

I dont want a 2 sim a week league. I like the Sunday morning IFL action. Then the down time.
I think we should ask Matt and Sui if it is even viable. Remember this last season one was forgotten. Life gets busy.

One extra wouldnt kill me. But I like where we are.

I agree. Let's keep the status quo. My first league was USFL and for a while I tried a couple of 'second leagues' but I never was able to stick with it. I think part of the reason I have stuck with the IFL is because of the slow schedule.

The game is dying a slow death with no updates in the horizon. There is not much chatter on the boards during the season. The best part of this game is the Draft and the chat that comes along with it.

I wouldn't mind seeing 6 double weeks with 5 single weeks. We need to draft more often, it is what keeps the interest. Its time to shake things up a bit. Just my 2 cents....

I think this is a great point. With no updates, the best/ most active part IS the offseason. Ever try to have a chat room discussion NOT on draft weekend?

That being said, the point about feasibility is very important. If the Admins dont have the time to run extra games, then there is no point to even voting.
