    GG Houston

My defense gave my offense countless chances to get back in the game, but it seemed after the late 2nd qtr drive for the touchdown they couldnt do anything haha

WOW, a win in Salt Lake in week one? Somebody wake me, I must be dreaming. Some notes from the game:

Edward Jacobs takes the snap from center.
Rickey Doyle just blew past O.J. Saenz and is all over the quarterback.
Jacobs was sacked by Defensive End Rickey Doyle for a loss of 6 yards.
First play of the game Doyle takes matters into his own hands sending a message to the Stallions
      Salt Lake CityCatchTargYardsAvgYACLGTD
      WR Don Gomez678714.5060491
      WR David Norris569819.605450
Despite gameplanning to double Gomez 100% of the time, he still has no problems tearing me a new ass. I'm convinced he's unstoppable.

      Horace Donovan receives the snap.
He gives the ball to Tyrell Smith.
Smith runs off-tackle to the left.
Smith finds a huge opening in the defense.
And he's off to the races.
A defender finally catches up to him.
      The run nets 53 yards.
Welcome to Oakland Smith! FB Smith's second run as an Oakland Devil goes for 53 in one of the biggest games of the year. That trade is already paying off.

My decision this offseason to make K/P my first 2 picks is looking like a good one now:
      OaklandPuntYardsAvgNetLGIn20
      Vernon Dirksen315250.747.0600
      OaklandFGs40+Yd50+YdLGPAT
      Cornell Burgess4/40/00/0322/2
Jacobs continues to mystify me as to how in the world to stop him. I have tried 2-3 different tactics yet year after year he has little to no problems passing the ball at will against my defense:
      Salt Lake CityAttCompYardsSk/YdTDLGIntRate
      Edward Jacobs33212542/123491104.8
A back and forth battle between two giants and I was lucky to escape with a win however in an odd twist of fate I won the game but Vito gets the last laugh as LDT Leonard Wingfield goes down with a strained hamstring for an "unknown" amount of time. The last player with that injury was out roughly 14 weeks before he was able to play again so this is a crushing loss to my team.

I play 6 out of 7 on the road to start, then barely have to leave Oakland the rest of the year. While I love the end of the schedule, it could brutalize me and put me in a serious hole unless I play like world champions on the road. Ugh.....

Tobias Stanfield throws a 72 yard pass with less than 3 minutes left in the game to tie it up. Glad to walk away with the win. Jerry Patterson got a bit pass happy 48 attempts??? He's no Dennis Collela. Took Castillo out of the game unnecessarily, but it's hard to mess with a game plan that won. ; )

I am shocked at how well we played on defense. NT Harris Garrod is a freak of nature. He tore it up in limited preseason time, and he owned Texas' O-line in this game. .5 sacks, 3 blks, 3 hurries, and 3 QB Kds. The rest of the defense played well too. Offense did good enough. We passed it well. Would have liked to had more success in the running game. Either way, beating Texas in week one is huge for this team!

            GG Tim.

Another win over Little Rock. Its starting to get boring, as Cringer seems to be gone from any active participation in htis league.

Whew, escaped with a win in LOU, definitely harder than the score showed. LOU's defense showed up to play, and my 3rd down offense was brutal.

Going to be a tough one next week vs Oaktown

rookie CB/KR Prestbye laid the ball on the ground to open the 2017 season in Fresno.
Although Warthogs recovered the ball physically they were affected nontheless as
Schwartz threw into coverage for an INC on 1st & Chapman ran backwards on 2nd. Schroeder just called a
Chapman dive on third and 11 to set up a Foley 32 yard punt. Not a good beginning to 2017
Holding call helped to stall the Libertys opening drive and Goodwin was just short on his
                          44 yard FGA. 0-0 mid 1st
Schwartz did not let the FA pickup TE Mitchells drop affect him as he hit WR Roache on 2 bombs to
put the Warthogs on the board. 7-0 Fresno. Liberty P Luzar pinned Fresno deep late in the 1st.
Fresno could not overcome the bad field position and LA got the ball around midfield. This set up
a bizare penalty and mistake riddled drive which ended with an endzone pick for Fresno. LA dominates
the 2Q but only gets a FG out of it. 7-3 Fresno at the half. LA has taken 45 snaps to the
Warthogs 18. Schwartz will need to do more with his limited oppertunities in the 2nd half.

LAs Goodwin had his second miss of the day on the opening drive of the 3Q. Schwartz leads an 8 play
FG drive late in 3Q to make the game 10-3 Fresno.

Goodwin nailed a 42 yarder to open the 4Q, but Fresnos K Oksenberg answered with a 56 yard blast making the
score 13-6 early 4Q. Two Dylan drops and a Beauchamp sack plus a nice Ross punt return gives Fresno a chance
to take control of this one having 1&10 at LA 37. But Fresno did almost nothing and Oksenbergs 53 yarder just
missed. Still 13-6. After an exchange of punts LA takes over at their own 35 with 5 mins left needing a TD to tie. Fresno holds on a crucial 3rd and 8 thanks to some Beauchamp pressure on Debussey. But on 4th and 8 Debussey hit Joyner for the first down - and he breaks the tackle and sprints the remaining 12 yards for the equalizer 13-13 is how regulation ends.

Warthogs win the toss and elect to recieve, but a Chapman stuff stalls the drive. Warthogs force a Liberty punt and Luzar booms another one putting Fresno inside their own 20. Of course Fresno can do nothing again but at least Foley had a nice punt to put LA at their own 26. Warthog MLB Maggard snatched a tipped Debussey pass out of the air at midfield giving the Warthogs field position half way thru the OT period. A couple of Chapman runs later and Fresno is in Oksenberg FG range. Schwartz then hit BU WR Helm on a bomb and it is 1st & 10 Fresno at LAs 13. A couple of Snap Chapman runs later and Fresno wins 19-13 in a long scorcher of a game

Schwartz somehow won PoG. I would have chosen Maggard myself.

                          gg Hoosier
I do think possibly that LA and Fresno might be closing the gap in the AFCW
