As for the first time I faced my former team all I can say is it was a bad day at the office. Mules converted 3rd and 18 for 23 yards and another 3rd down play for 30 yards on their way to an opening drive TD. Warthogs got pinned inside the 20 on the ensuing KO. This was the first of 7 drives Fresno would begin inside their 20. Gepner kept the pressure on the Warthogs and Murfreesboro wound up with another short field and then their was a Scott Fortune sighting as he streaked to a 12 yard TD putting the Mules up 14-0. Mules Townes fumbled inside the 2 minute warning, but he recovered and OP went on to find Scott Fortune for a 16 yard TD strike putting the Mules up 21-0 at the half. And things did not improve for the visiting Warthogs after the half. Warthogs got to midfield on opening possession of the 3rd and pinned the Mules at their 4 - and Osuchowski ripped Fresno for 36 yards on the 1st down. After a short Oskenberg FG got the Warthogs on the board Townes fumbled again but the Mules luck held and TE Gearhardt jumped on the loose ball. Later Fresno had to settle for another short FG making the score 21-6 early in the 4th when the Warthogs allowed Hodel to return a KO 87 yards for a TD making the score 28-6. This put Schwartz into hurry up mode and he promptly hit Mule CB Preston for an INT. This led to a 4+ minute 30 yard FG drive that put the Mules up 31-6 with 5 mins left. Schwartz aggravated his toe scrambling on the first play of the next drive. Lara replace him and hit DeBoer for a 6 yard FD, but the Mules forced a Fumble that DeBoer returned for an 83 yard TD ending the scoring at 31-13 Murfreesboro.
Opie completed over 70% of his passes for arguably his best start of the season. Scott Fortune has touched the ball 13 times in 2016 for the Mules and scored 2 TDs in 5 touches Sunday. This is the first time Fortune has scored since 2014!
As I said from the Warthog perspective this one just has too be forgotten as nothing went Fresno's way.
GG Blue Crew I hope this turns the Mules season around for you
