We need another win to maintain some form of respectability... implemented a new defensive gameplan, and hopefully that'll tweak our team. The D gameplan has worked dramatically well in other leagues, so here's hoping the Imperial League isn't an exception.

always fun to faceoff against Newark.

i feel like our organizations are related to each other with 2 of Lansing's 3 biggest trades were with Newark; the Crespo trade and the todd terrell career ending emergency trade (brought Burger to newark, among other things). although almost all the pieces are gone i always reflect on how much different things could have been...

                  lol

I too see our organizations linked together. We always had a hard time winning against the Ogres.

The memories are still very distinct for me re: Burger and Terrell.
I had been eyeing Burger to be a Bulldog. You nabbed him just before I could grab him. I think I spent some signifcant time trying to acquire him.
Terrell, on the other hand, was finally ready to live up the potential/expectations. He had the cast around him and he had showed that he was ready to be an IFL great. Then.............bammmmm! he was hurt. Newark on the other hand was in a completely different mode. We had Scott Nelson as our starter, but I was always wary of his health and his ability to lead the passing game. I had brought in Burger and Phillip Stai in the offseason. Stai was a high round CB pick. He never did live up to his expectations as a CB, but was a decent return guy. I loved Burger and was thrilled to bring him on board. I remember that he was a guy that had little red bars but a nice green pasture to grow in to.
                  here is the trade.

                  http://www.imperialfl.us/forums/show...ghlight=burger

going back to Terrell being hurt now........
I was in need of a DE. I felt we were being abused both in running game and passing game. I was at the point where I thought I could get by with Burger passing 10-15 times a game, and just ride Crespo.
                  here is that trade

                  http://www.imperialfl.us/forums/show...ghlight=burger

It turns out I had a quick reaction after Burger's first career start, and I quickly brought in Ruben Sante to take the reins as a solid starter. Side note is that I sent J.B Fogarty to Boston when I acquired Sante.

                  blahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
                  enough reminicing.

Burger's turned out to be a huge player for us, despite his inability to win a big game.

oh wow, i thought nelson came over in the burger trade. i was a big fan of his. he came over and was given the keys to the franchise overnight when terrell was blown up. had some gritty performances, but could never get us to contender status.

i always felt mangrum was a huge dissapointment - never playing up to his skills (bars).

liked burger too, knew i was getting great value when i grabbed him in the draft.

agreed on Mangrum. He did "ok" for us, but never really burned it up.
I ended up trading him for my current 2nd string QB Schultz.
