Hi everyone,

My name is Mark Conder and I'm interested in joining the IFL. For starters, I am a novice - having only purchased the game a couple days ago - so I might have a little learning curve getting started (especially with the salary cap from the looks of it). I've already gone through a few drafts in a single person league and it seems when I come out of it I only have about 15 mil of cap room and a quite a few players with expiring contracts - and that's on the "easy" setting! I also finished 14-4 my first season while only making minor game adjustments during the year - so my first impression of the cpu player isn't very positive. That's what spurred me to seek out a multiplayer league. The IFL appeals to me 'cause of the slower pace - maybe 'cause I'm getting old!

I live in Lubbock, Texas but am a "die-hard" Denver Broncos fan. I don't hate the Cowboys but I still harbor some resentment from S-bowl XII (at least we got Dorsett for a season).

Anyway, as far as teams go, I guess from what I can tell so far I would maybe be interested in Portland or Vancouver - but am open to suggestions (or whatever team you assign me). I'm hoping for a younger team with decent cap room to build, but whatever is fine.

I've already taken the liberty of creating a new gmail email addy just for the league so I can easily filter league emails. It's imperialfl.mc@gmail.com

Welcome ... this is a pretty friendly group of guys who will help you as you go along. There are no stupid questions. We have all had them.

In all seriousness WELCOME to the league. Since your pretty much totally new to the game feel free to ask questions. This is the best bunch of owners in ANY FOF MP league. I suggest Jester, Tarcone, Matt or Sui or myself. ANYONE will help ya here though. You should take Vancouver though....being that I am a lifelong Raider fan, and you a Bronco fan it would be fun to have a league rival besides SLC!! Haha

Welcome to the league, Mark! A lot of us are old too... SteveBeans (Houston owner) just smells that way.

The salary cap goes up way too much as the seasons go on in MP play so I doubt you'll have much trouble there.

Portland or Vancouver are both great choices to build on: Portland if you like offense, Vancouver if you like defense. I'm a defensive fan but I should tell you that FOF 2K7 seems offensively biased in my opinion and a lot of GMs would agree with me there. Either way you'll be putting your own stamp on the team before long. Jave's a die-hard Raiders fan so you might want Vancouver as he suggested. Denver is open to a franchise moving there however you'd have to check with the commisssioners, Suicane and Matt, for eligibility as a new GM.

Unless I've been missing out for a few years we don't do much communication via email so you probably didn't have to make the new addy.

And we love activity so don't worry about rambling here. Jave and/or I would've been thrown out a long time ago if that was a problem.

League Files

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
I was trying to get a look at POR and VAN rosters to see what they are like - but haven't been able to get access to the league file (maybe I'm not supposed to!). I downloaded imperial.zip and put the extracted files in my leagues dir. Then tried "enter new career" with Imperial as league ID. It just showed the default teams. If I try using a random default team name I can't open a saved game - it gives me a game plan error. Also, I downloaded the IFL universe file thinking that would give me the real IFL teams - but I get errors when trying to unzip the two files inside.
---any help would be appreciated.

Jave - I'm sure we can both agree that the Chargers time as top dog in the AFC west is just about up. I think Oakland and Denver are going to be on the rise next couple of years - not so sure about KC.

thanks for posting those rosters. Portland is very tempting with those great O-linemen but Vancouver would be fun too - I can see a lot of "needs" for the 2nd or 3rd pick. Plus, I would already have two established "rivals"! So....i guess my preference order is:

1. Vancouver
2. Portland
3. Hartford
4. Iowa City (They look pretty well stocked but their roster is a little older - oh what do I know?)
