I wouldn't be so quick to make your superbowl plans just yet. You know in John Elway's first seasons he had pretty poor stats overall, but in the 4th quarter he almost always picked it up and made things happen. Cutler on the other hand, has shown a knack for performing great through 3 quarters, then tossing the critical int when the game is in the balance. I'm not saying he's Jeff George, and he still turn out to be a great QB - but i think the jury is still out.

I am praying Russell comes along this year and McFadden is healed from not just the ONE, but TWO turf toes he had last season!! Denver will always be Denver. No matter who you guys plug in, you always seem to be back on top of the division within a year or two. That's why I hate ya all so bad! hahaOriginally posted by markc View PostThanks everyone for the welcome.
I was trying to get a look at POR and VAN rosters to see what they are like - but haven't been able to get access to the league file (maybe I'm not supposed to!). I downloaded imperial.zip and put the extracted files in my leagues dir. Then tried "enter new career" with Imperial as league ID. It just showed the default teams. If I try using a random default team name I can't open a saved game - it gives me a game plan error. Also, I downloaded the IFL universe file thinking that would give me the real IFL teams - but I get errors when trying to unzip the two files inside.
---any help would be appreciated.

Jave - I'm sure we can both agree that the Chargers time as top dog in the AFC west is just about up. I think Oakland and Denver are going to be on the rise next couple of years - not so sure about KC.
Awsome! Finally got someone in Vancouver who will give a shit!!Originally posted by Matt View Postlooks like you've got yourself Vancouver.
for any new guys who need help setting up the game.....let me know.

I thought it was extremely foolish for McDaniels to jump ship as quick as he did. He was directly under one of the best coaches in the history of the game in quite possibly the best franchise in the 4 major sports.
I'm not saying it because i'm a Pats fan and upset he left (i'm not.. Pats will be fine with or without him), but he would have been doing himself a favor by learning all he could before he put himself out there like that... then again, sticking around doesn't exactly guarantee success either (Romeo + Weis).
We'll see though. One of these former Belichick coaches will actually succeed without him, maybe it'll be Josh.Steve Beans - Houston Renegades

Most coaches don't succeed whether a Beli desciple or not. Fact is that IF you get a HC opportunity the odds say it might be your last and you should take it. It's very possible that the Pats total dominance days are behind them and the iron will never have been hotter for McDaniels. Certainly had he stayed around he wouldn't have been "hired better" or anything for learning a little more.
For players in college there might be a reason to stick around for that final season. For grown men there's slim chance they'll learn any magical secrets from staying in an underling position for another season, especially if they're legit HC contenders with what they know at the time.
Now going to a new team and failing to establish a relationship with your 26 year old Pro-Bowl quarterback can be looked at as foolish whether you get a good package in return via trade or not.

Russell seems to have shown some leadership during the offseason, but he will never develop into a solid QB if he has a new coach coming in every season. Besides that, if you look at the history of QBs coming out as true Juniors, none of them have had a lot of success. I believe the most successful QB to come out as a Junior has been Jeff George.Originally posted by Jave View PostI am praying Russell comes along this year and McFadden is healed from not just the ONE, but TWO turf toes he had last season!! I thought McFadden was a great pick at the time, but the more I think about it, I think he should be utilitzed in a similar matter to Reggie Bush, with Michael Bush getting a lot of the carries. The thing I am disappointed in with McFadden and something that I chose to ignore when he came out is his lack of elusiveness.
I used to be optimistic about the Raiders, but our recent history of constant head coaching changes and poor drafts has made me pessimistic and I now take a wait an see approach. I mean, our draft this year was aweful. Here we were, with one of the worst defenses against the rush consistently for many years, and we pass on BJ Raji for a receiver who probably would have lasted into the 20s. We could have also taken a blue chip LT.
