let's put it to a vote. i'm tired of jester and tarcone trying to poo poo every attempt to right this ship just cuz RIGHT NOW their teams are exactly they way they want them. this is not the jester/tarcone league. compromise is gonna have to get made or else eventually people will grow tired of this. my idea doesn't require any out of game tinkering or rules. it's just you get less chances to lowball a player. you want the guy then put your best off on the table and hope it's more than what the other team offered, you know, like what real GM's are forced to do. you think real GM's get a report as to what every other GM offered players? ha. i laugh at that silliness.

time to see if the majority of the league likes this.

I love it! I can't get enough "Whah waah Jester/Tarcone" talk or new polls.

Tell me again about the 2003 draft? Or about the up/down cyclical nature of this game and how you just happen, through circumstances out of your control, to always be down?

        A couple of things here.

        1) I have been one of the bigger voices against changes I think and my team could be considered at it's lowest point in it's history.

        2) I don't want votes on anything. I am tired of hearing about 'the problems' at this point, and nothing passed would effect this season anyways. I would be fine with having a vote during the playoffs or after the playoffs, on any proposal. I would suggest the proposal of no renegotiations until final year of contract again. I honestly would probably vote yes another time around simply because if people are calling for change then they can have that. A lot of other leagues have adopted that rule, I have played with that rule, I have seen it have little effect in those leagues. I am fine having it if guys feel there must be change. My problem this time around was we had an official vote on it not too long ago that failed, and some newb came in crying for it not caring about what the league had already voted on it.

Next time maybe, at this point though I could care less and would rather it be put off for now.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Honestly i've yet to hear of a rule that would actually change stuff, so i'd vote no. I'm against all types of rules unless they actually fix problems.

Like I pointed out, while I appreciate rook thinking this out, it won't change anything. Teams will horde players like they already do because it's the best way to go, and it'll actually work against what we've seen lately because these marginal players won't go nearly as high as we've seen. I just bid $7.25 / 2 on an undrafted kicker. Why? Because I need a can.

I can't think of a single rule that would fix things. Someone needs to hack into the FOF code and start making players get extremely demanding with their offers, and make some of them really greedy where they absolutely refuse to re-sign with their current team before testing the market.

So who is good at hacking programs? haha.

              Bravo!

btw the players agent probably gives an inaccurate report of what his player is being offered by another team to try and boost the current offer.

Anyways these people dont want change because any more work to do in the league would blow their mind and anything that might make the league more competitive and fun isn't in their interest.

I love how Jester acts like the Don Juan of this game when he plays it on infant mode. I bet all the games you buy you play it on easy omg if something became a challenge.

We need a rule to fix multiple problems with this league.

I don't lowball anyone in free agency. And as WR, Novack could attest, being "one-upped" every stage in free agency this year actually drove his contract higher than would have been with the proposed suggestion of merging free agent rounds. I think this would actually be counter-productive.

I might consider the no "reneg" until the last year, but have my doubts about this as well. I don't understand. The majority of people here seem to be happy with the way things are, if the vocal minority want a league with different rules...why do they stay?

oh wait...because the IFL is better than those other leagues. : )

i was all prepared to make last season my final one here. i was talked into staying. i'm beginning to doubt whether i should've went out on a high note then gradually fester. there is no challenge in this league. and by no challenge i don't mean "it's easy to win". obviously there's only 1 team that can win a ring each year so just cuz other teams don't win doesn't mean it's not a challenge. i'm concerned with the challenge of how difficult it is to build and more importantly keep a team. there is no challenge. draft a guy and you own him forever. there's no hard choices to make as to "how am i gonna be able to keep this stud on my team and still afford to field a solid and competitive team?". there hasn't been one time i've need to ask that question.

i've originally planned on leaving after Schwartz has retired. i'll take it on a year by year basis from this point on. whether Schwartz busts or blooms is a win-win for me. if he blooms then i get to follow his career till the end. if he busts then i have no reason to stick around. i'm not saying i'm unhappy here, the commish's do a tremendous job - it's just why keep this seat warm when someone else would have fun with the league the way it currently is? no one needs to hear me complain.

the minority wants a league with different rules why stay? so 11 of the 26 who voted yes for the rule change should find a new league? gotcha. How silly.

                      I agree 100%

even tho we have had our differences you make alot of good points and have alot of the same ideas and thoughts as myself. Like I said some people don't like a challenge always buy their new games and play them on easy or get cheat codes etc.

I don't believe its a minority either. I think there is enough people that would like the reneg rule to take place they just aren't too vocal about it though. Then i think there are some that are on the fence about the whole thing.

There is more wanting it this time then the last time Jeff tried to pass the rule. Its slowly coming around.

bear in mind my problems are more with the limitations of FOF than this league itself. if FOF was more tweakable we could find a happy medium without house rules. it is what it is. i only bought 2k7 cuz of this league. i was already finished with the FOF series years ago. i'll step out of this thread for now. people know where i stand on this issue.

I guess I dont understand how this league is not "challenging". How this league is in "infant mode". This is an extremely challenging league with some of the best GMs in the FOF community.
Why does the ultimate league question have to be "Do I have enough cap to sign my stud AND fill my roster"?
Why cant the most important question be "Do I draft this guy or that? Do I trade for the MLB or hang onto him and hope he keeps producing, although that 2nd round pick looks good."?

There has not been one suggestion that fixes the FOF financial model. The suggestions only bring about change. As many have said, this is a great league. The best out there. Why does it need to change?
As I have said there is nothing in these suggestions that change the basic financial model of the game itself.
If nothing changes the financial model with house rules why change? Really, is combing the FA stages into just 4 going to make me get rid of Andrews, Sanford or Singleton? I may trade them. But I doubt I let them go in FA.

You guys know how I developed my team in the last 4 seasons. It has been through the draft and trading. I am now close to the cap. Which means I will have tough cap questions to answer in the next 3 or 4 seasons.

Change is good and change is bad. If the league isnt broken, why try and fix it? The game is what is broken. Hopefully in the next few seasons a new sim football game will come out and we can transistion to it.

                            We dont need rules.

i would love to be the commish for a new league. there would be no voting from GMs - just what the commish wants. i don't have what it takes to gameplan my way to a championship so in a way i'm just spinning the wheels in place participating in MP leagues. unfortunately we're just so limited with what we can do with the game. every league is essentially cookie cutter since the league doesn't allow for much customization. the box and wrapper might be different but its still the same gift inside.
