5. Amateur Draft Rules

5a. Draft Times:
Round 1: 4 Hours
Round 2: 3 Hours
Round 3: 2 Hours
Round 4: 2 Hours
Round 5: 2 Hours
Round 6: 1 Hour
Round 7: 1 Hour

5b. Draft Penalties:
If you miss a pick in the draft your time for all future picks will be reduced by 50%. If your time expires your pick will be made by the utility, there will no longer be mod picking. The Draft Utility allows you to make a queue as big as a you want, USE IT!

Last year there was talk we were going to look into shortening some of the rounds? Specifically the later 2 hour rounds (4 & 5). I dont remember exactly. I think at least round 5 could be 1 hour. Anyone else? Thoughts?

I agree with a 1 hour limit for round 5

The draft times have already been shortened pretty dramaticly. The 50% reduction for a missed pick will also speed things up exponentialy.

SAT 7- Mar
SUN 8- Mar FA Stage 6- All Draft Interviews Must Be Completed
MON 9- Mar FA Stage 7 - Ammy Draft Commencess

Has there been any thought to starting this on the weekend so that we can a productive 'no one is at work' early draft? Just a suggestion...

Problem with that is that the draft should start after all interviews are done and all GMs should get all of FA to do so.

I kinda half to agree. Starting the draft on a Monday really fucks those who return to work after a weekend.

Me...I'm unemployed so it's all gravy but it even screws me when an owner has 5 hours to make a pick and he is at work, so we run into the situation like last year where the first 10 picks took like 14 hours to get through.

Heres the thing. I'm open to starting the draft utility Late Friday or early Saturday, the problem is that in the past people have gone bitchy and nuts when picks arn't made. If I open the utility and the guy with the 3 spot doesnt wanna pick for whatever reason, he's well within his right, but then i have to deal with 2 days of moaning.

Also, 6 rounds of FA should be enough for you to decide who and what positions you're targeting, waiting the entire FA period to do the draft just isn't feasible.
