I cant believe I went for a FG with that much time at the end. But I guess my guys knew your QB was on the take. I probably didnt deserve to win that one, but a win is a win.
Toby Torres is a great pick up by the way. He is a playmaker from the DT spot. But today his brother, SLB Rex Torres was the star.

    GG Pirates

WE ARE IN 1ST PLACE!!!!! And we tied our regular season record for most wins. Next week at home against WV we go for the tie for most franchise wins in a season and break the regular season record for wins.
Singleton was a monster in that game. I really did not think we could contain him so I was pumped when I saw he was under 100 rushing. Then I saw the 108 catching with 2 TD's. I think that game goes either way.

I am loving Torres this year. I just hope next year we can get to the playoffs to truelly make it worth while. He is a beast.

I've bitched about this since the patch from 2007 where Jim opened up passing offenses to be able to mimic that which the Patroits where doing last year. This league, however, has high pass percentages as a whole than the other leagues I'm in.

Overall, IFL teams are completing 65.2 percent of their passes and no team is completing less than 60 percent of their passes, which is remarkable. The other leagues I'm each have at least two teams with sub 60 completion percentages. Some leagues have 5 or 6.

I'm in five leagues, and I'll run down the overall completion percentage, yards and yards per pass play as well as some other stats.

      Code:
League Att Cmp Pct Yards Yds/C Yds/A Avg/GP Rate PPly Defn OpPDPct GP
      IFL 12720 8295 65.2 93895 11.32 7.38 244.5 95.1 13384 1360 43.3 384
      USFL 13962 9052 64.8 98810 10.92 7.08 237.5 91.2 14703 1383 42.8 416
      RNFL 17260 10909 63.2 119507 10.95 6.92 233.4 88.1 18369 1802 47.8 512
      PFL 15021 9677 64.4 102581 10.60 6.83 229.0 88.5 15860 1516 43.7 448
      eNFL 15332 9641 62.9 100746 10.45 6.57 224.9 83.5 16282 1597 47.8 448
The only thing I can think of that may explain why the IFL has a little bit more success passing the ball is because this is the only league that used The College Years to create draft classes. We all figure/know that there are hidden ratings for players. What if the The College Years created players (defensive backs) with hidden ratings that are worse/better than what the game itself creates when it makes a draft class? Maybe as the college years players are phased out, things will return to normal a little bit more.

But as a whole, this is the only league where I feel that I have no control whatsoever over what my secondary does on a given week. The other leagues it seems what I do works well.
Very interesting. Now Doyle is out for the year, but here are my CB's:

Now granted, my safety's suck, and my gameplanning is lacking to say the least, but here are the passing stats of opposing teams since week 4:

      183 completions for 2182 yards 17 Touchdowns 5 interceptions.

WTF? And when I read the SLC/Newark score I went and look at the Newark defensive backfield. 2 very good CB's in Edwards and Lawson, and unlike me, very good safties in Hampton and Schaffer. Yet they got tore a new ass by SLC, PASSING, for 347 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Not to take anything away from SLC or Vito's gameplan, but that's just not right, it shouldn't happen. I may do a league wide study of it this week just to confirm because it's not just me noticing this.

I couldn't agree with you more..... its ridiculous !!

To veer away from the "pass defense sucks" discussion.
The NC has 5 teams battling for 4 playoff spots. Madison, Tulsa, Pennsylvania, Lansing, Texas are all vying for the 4 spots. Texas at 9-3 is out of the picture right now.

Here is a breakdown of the race remaining:

            Madison 10-2

            vs Cleveland 8-4
            at Dakota 2-10
            at Montreal 4-8
            at Lansing 9-3

            Lansing 9-3

            at Iowa City 4-8
            at Pennsylvania 9-3
            at Cleveland 8-4
            vs Madison 10-2

            Pennsylvania 9-3

            vs Montreal 4-8
            vs Lansing 9-3
            at Wichita 5-7
            vs Dakota 2-10

            Tulsa 10-2

            vs West Virginia 8-4
            at Little Rock 5-7
            vs Norfolk 7-5
            vs Texas 9-3

            Texas 9-3

            at Hartford 2-10
            vs Georgia 4-8
            at Boston 7-5
            at Tulsa 10-2

Tulsa and Lansing have the toughest road. While Pennsylvania has the easiest. This is going to be an exciting race.

I think with more teams using the West Coast Offense and the like from FOFC, passing percentages are up.

To veer back. CLEARLY I have the leagues worst PD. 30+ pts. allowed per gm. Opposing QB's have a 111.5 rating. Oh, I could go on and on and on ... Granted I'm not a good defensive game planner and I installed my preferred O and D early on and haven't tweeked it much, if at all, week to week. I've primarily been using this season as a barometer. The report cards are in. I think we're okay offensively, good at stopping the run and awful defending the pass. Expect a lot of wheeling and dealing from the Wichita ?????? this offseason. There will be plenty of talent shopped around here.

/chuckle, wasn't Barker drafted ahead of Donovan? What knucklehead thought that was a good idea?

Bad a day as he had they still almost pulled it out. He was 5/5 on screens and 8/8 on short passes but threw long 18 times resulting in 3 picks. To bad, a bit of gameplanning could have pulled that one out. They played hella better then I did though. BOSS thumped my ass.

Haha, I'm just busting your chops. The truth is I had a terrible offensive line and I wanted Donovan because of his scrambling ability. Dumb as it sounds I was hoping he would be able to run his way outta sacks. 94 sacks later, guess I was wrong about that.

Great job btw Vito. Your QB is less then average, receivers are great, but they are tearing it up this year. I would give my left nut to see your gameplan. You made it work, damn good.

This week we gave up approx 170 YAC yards, with a lot of these balls thrown into double coverage. Today hurt, as it's been a culmination of 3 straight games where my offense blows and my defense is nonexistent. I'm almost tempted to just rex everything. It can't get any worse............or can it? lol

no, its ok, cuz JMO has it all figured out and instead of drafting pieces to build a stellar o-line since offense is uber potent he says we should draft players for the defense even if they aren't actually studs because DEs and CBs are more important positions. nevermind this offense in this league trumps defense.
