i'll be stepping down at season's end. i don't know what i'm doing, i think someone else can do a better job. i may give the football MP thing another go if another game comes out that is better put together. i turn knobs and push buttons and i just don't know if that's doing anything. there's something wrong with this franchise, it's one of the few to never go to the playoffs. i've come to the conclusion that i don't have what it takes as a gameplanner to get this team over the hump. this is not a reflection on IFL - this is hands down without a doubt the most fun i've had in a MP league. everyone is top notch, particularly suicane and matt. :shoot:

Just a heads up...that the grass is not greener on the other side. I left a note for Matt that I miss the league. Yeah...there's problems with the game, but a great bunch of guys that will figure out how to have fun regardless...besides...there's not a whole lot of other options of games out there...and its only once a week.

I do plan on coming back when a spot opens up. Hope you all plan on staying around.

Guys I am in the same boat. This game is an utter mystery to me and the gameplanning thing is beyond me. However, I dont plan on leaving. This is a fantastic group of people that you are just not going to find anywhere else. I hope you stay HA.

i won't leave the forum. this is one of the few websites that isn't blocked at my job. so i'll still be on this website.

we do FOF MP to see if we could hack it as a real life GM. i've been controlling the Heroes for 7 seasons now and i haven't accomplished anything. if this was real life i'd have been fired a long time ago. its safe to say that as much as i have an opinion about the bad moves some real life GMs make i don't think i could do any better judging on my MP career. i've done nothing, and i don't know how to do what i need to do in order to turn this around. there's just something about MP and me - i'm good against the AI but against a human i can't compete. the experiment has failed. i'm not a good GM.

Me neither...which is one of the reasons I decided to quit...Felt like I was holding back the franchise...I was so frustrated...but really...ONE of these days we are going to figure it out. : ) And soon all the original talent from this league will be gone and everyone will be in the same boat...(not that I'm giving you more ammo for THAT argument again : ( )

I personally do FOF MP for entertainment so for me you might not be a winning GM - and are simply an asshole at times - but due to your activity on the boards you are a good MP GM. In fact I just asked Matt recently if we could focus on bringing in more like you.

I'd rather bragadocious 7-9 teams than silent 13-3's any season.

i'll still be suicane's art dept (and occasional cum sponge if he lets me), so i won't totally be out of the league. i just know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em, i know when to walk away, know when to run.

Did I tell you I think this game has a bunch nuts and bolts that don't work together also.

Don't leave HA you were on the verge of a major turn-around maybe not this year but at least next season or after. We're about to be in the cellar for a couple of years, which I thought would happen this year (still might), until we get some high draft picks in here.

Maybe we should crack open 2k4 and re-start the league from where we left off. wouldn't that be fun!

the game made more sense statistically when it was 2k4. i deleted it from my PC but i'm sure i could get it off torrent or something, not like i didn't pay for it before. it just seems to me 2k7 wasn't so much of a step above 2k4 - if anything it may be a step behind 2k4 with the recent patch. graphically it's the same game. the problem when a developer says "the UI may look the same but most of the improvements were done under the hood" is that unless you can look under the hood then you're just taking his word for it. i don't remember 2k7 doing things that 2k4 couldn't do, or at least doing things that would necessitate a buying a brand new game.

the problem for me was two games ago. i was noticing a trend of QBs throwing long bombs against me and completing them. i tried to increase my blitzing to up the pressure on the QB, i would only double team the oppositions top receiver so i didn't commit 4 DBs to 2 guys all the time. i then made the decision that even though Sante was having a career year - if everyone else's QB was making these completions for huge gains i might as well try to take advantange of what could possibly be a bug (Jester and i have been complaining that QBs are supermen now due to the latest patch). LA comes out and makes all these huge completions against us. ii'm talking 20 yarders, bam bam bam. so what does Sante do on his first attempt against LA? attempts a big pass for an interception. i was like "this is enough". LA goes up ahead 14-0, we struggle to score and even though i simmed as the fastest speed possibly i saw LA was just marching up and down my field at will. i didn't even bother to look at post-game stats. something's wrong and i don't know how to fix it. IFL doesn't need me to complain and bring everyone's fun down. i'll just be an outsider.

HA, I feel ya. Honestly, some people "get it" and some don't. Look at Jeff, Jester, rook, Sui and a few others. Year after year they are successful. I don't mind admitting they are much better GM's then I(we) are. Gameplanning, drafting, free agency....they excel at the entire game. I have great players by virtue of being terrible most of the time and getting high draft picks but I can never figure out how to put it all together. I try to gameplan and get annilated. I don't gameplan and still get annilated. I don't know what the secret is, honestly I don't. I have tried everything. Aggressive offense, aggressive D, run the ball, pass the ball, let the game rex for me....I am still not a good GM win/loss wise.
I have scoured the FOFC forums for any scraps of info I can, tried to utilize different ideas I find, try to find my own, tried out ideas in SP mode etc...Still, for the most part, my teams just arn't that good. Yes, I did go to the IP game. Know how? I rexed every single week. I started out the season trying to gameplan. Without loading up the game if I recall I lost 3 of 5 and was plummeting. So I got frustrated and just hit rex on everything. I went on a roll and only lost to the Vipers in the final minute of the Imperial Bowl. I don't know any more then you but even though I think your a loon most of the time, I think you should stick around as well. It's not just you. I believe most of us have no clue about this game. Don't give up, at least not yet.

While it sounds crazy maybe not. I would be up for it. What about a complete restart using 04'? Maybe a sub league, keep this one and have 04' as another league? A fresh start, new game. I often think about how I would do things way different if I had the chance. It still may not improve my wins and losses but it would be fun to try to see if I learned anything after all these years.
