My role in the IFL is going to change dramatically as we switch to 2012. Within the past few weeks or so I came to the conclusion that the league as a whole would be better served if I took more of a backseat role in it. Effective immediately Suicane and Matt will be the head honchos. In addition, a new owner will be taking over the Portland Seals.
This isn't much cause for concern - the league will push on. A league is only as strong as its owners and we have some great guys around here. Suicane has ran sims before and Matt, who has been a member of my little IFL cabinet for quite awhile now, is extremely dedicated to this league. Plus, I will be watching from the sidelines to ensure there are no setbacks - I'll be helping with little things here and there.
I won't go into all the details of my decision, but they pretty much revolve around the fact that I'm just not finding this to be very fun anymore. Since I took over the league 19 months ago my life has become a *lot* busier. Since last fall I've been a full-time student and a full-time worker. Besides that, I don't think I'm a good fit as leader of this league anymore (or any league for that matter). I don't feel we have as much in common anymore as we once did. I just think that it's time for me to spread my wings and cut the ball and chain. That might sound a little harsh, but if you've ran a league before you can probably relate.
I want to thank everyone who has made this league what it is. Just remember that this isn't a complete farewell. Without any doubt I can say that I will be contributing until my contributions are no longer needed.
PS - I'm sorry about the timing. I take no pleasure in making this post just minutes after simming the championship game. The reality is that we push forward fast and these changes need to be put into motion before this next season really gets underway.
