Are you referring to rookies in the post-draft free agency?

You'll see that I'm looking at shoring up the short-deal/high bonus deals in the other thread.

It is a totally legit approach, but one that FOF currently can't handle. If a new patch came and fixed the issue, we would definitely revisit and rule that had been implemented.

The renegotiations are built around performance, correct?
I see the examples you put up there. Sanford played in 10 games I think. But Look at my LG who also renegotiated. He played all 16 games, and wanted a pay increase.

I guess I dont like the rule. I would prefer to manually lower the cap then put restrictions on who I can and cannot sign.

Renegotiations should be based on performance, but the game sure as hell isn't doing a good job of that. We can't manually lower the cap. Our TV contract puts us at a 6 million cap increase for at least 4 or 5 years. Besides that, everything I've read points out that playing with the cap will have little effect on the bottom line of the issue.

i'm thinking so far outside the box here i know this will get shut down but i'm about to put it out there nonetheless cuz i'm really really excited about this idea:

what if i were to give up my team and become an "agent" for the players? and by that i mean you send me the offers and i would negotiate on behalf of the players. even if you wanted to renogotiate a deal, you would have to PM me with the offer and i would counter or accept. if i felt the player was undervalued or came off a good year i would want to contact the GM about getting a new deal. for teams who trade for guys in the last year of their contract, using ratings like "loyalty" and "play for winner" i would determine if the player is definitely going to test free agency or would be willing to sign a new deal with their new team.

i think this would be the best way to make sure the FA pool gets more quality players and to make sure teams start opening up their purses. i'm open to doing this because it'd be just as fun for me, and i'm starting to understand i will never win a MP championship due to so much being out of my hands. don't get me wrong, i love my team and i think about it a lot, but i've played FOF MP for many years now and have only one playoff visit total to show for all that time. so i'm open to doing something new and groundbreaking. i really think this would be cool and would completely, without a doubt, eradicate any AI issues.

plus, it'd be more fun dealing with a human agent than an imaginary agent.

jeff to shoot down the idea in 3....2....1.....

yup. with the shortage of talent in real FA pool the LFA pool shows the same 1 yr deal behavior on the rookies. they are then tied into RFA status and can be negotiated cheaper for the remaining 3 yrs of RFA. so in essence, you overpay year 1 and then underpay yrs 2+ because they are exclusive rights players.

this will get snuffed out....it would work but only if the cap lowering was outside of the game because the game lowers demands with a lower cap...

so to make it work you would have to use a rule that is monitored and enforced by a commish..in essence the rule would be every team needed 10M in cap remaining or else you violate the cap and have players cut etc....the response so far has been this is too hard for owners to figure out and to much work for a commish to manage...i personally like it the best because it leaves the game untouched and allows the full range of GM options to the owners.

Agan I will follow any rules implemented of course.

But I rebuilt Murfreesboro from the bottom up without using FA for other than role players or injury replacements. Of course being as bad as the Mules were a lot of marginal guys got a lot of snaps and some of them developed and moved on.

depending on how the rules work out seems like I would be forced to abandon the build thru the draft and reward my own guys approach and have to run the Mules as if the current season was the only season that mattered. Not sure if I like that approch.

Sure Peterson "HAD" a cheap contract heading into this season, but with the CAP-Out I used on him he is right at top 5 pay with 6.5m and next year is looking at 7.3m which currently would put him in the top 5. Not exactly cheap anymore. Just using Opie as an example here.

Yep this is what I meant by lowering the cap.

I like HAs idea. That would be pretty fun.

to get really freaky, we could use the players ratings in 'play for winner' and 'loyalty'. Play for winner. Essentially a player would be willing to renegotiate if he had a loyalty rating of over 80, or if your team totalled 11 wins and the player had a rating over 80 in 'play for winner'.
