1st Round Draft Discussion, 2008

My thoughts on the first round:

5) VAN and ORL - WLB Mike Barkley and Kendall Clark - These guys are virtual carbon copies of each other. All-around great LBs, but they lack size at the position. It is unclear whether either backer can make the switch to the SLB position. Even though they are good against the pass, will it matter if they are not on the field in passing situations?

I have Beaton and a few other decent (if green) 3-4 LBs and I'm going to try and keep them in the formation they play best if someone on the team can step up and handle the nose tackle position. So, I was looking for an OLB with some strength to try and shift to SILB, in fact, and if not, yes, SLB. He was one of the strongest OLBs in the draft. And if he plays WLB the best (which is most likely the case because he is kind of tiny) that's fine, too. Not what I intended, though. Good call.

Just noticed he's got 2 guys in his utility, and I can't remember which takes precident...

I think it's ok to take the player in the utility and then go by team needs............................

Top player in list is what you go by if list is populated I think.

to those with lists set up. even if it's not turned on because you hope to make your pick, atleast we could use it to work off of if you miss your pick. this goes out to everyone, not just you Spunky.

So I would say draft the #1 guy on his list.

There is no real thought into picking for a team. If everyone read the rules of the draft they would know this. Your pick is made for you based on what THE GAME says are your top three needs. The highest rated player from those three positions is then taken for you.

You pick the top person in the util if there is one, otherwise you take the top-rated player who fits one of their three need positions.
