It seems like there wouldn't be very many candidates for that one on a yearly basis. You're thinking about guys coming off of injuries, right?

I can think of one this season - Mulcahy. But how many other guys are out there and getting serious playing time after some big injuries?

It's way to early to even think about voting on these positions. When you talk about the best players at their position, regardless of stats, they will be on teams who are still playing. Now, there is of coarse exceptations to this rule. If a guy busts his ass all year long on a team that blows ass, I am NOT discounting his stats. That shows me effort and desire, which is the prime thing I look for when making these votes.

For instance; you have 2 of the best QB's in the league, Hamilton and Booker. Anyone who makes their vote before the this game is played is simply discounting one of the most important factors regarding awards. You can throw for 6000 yards and 70 touchdowns, but if you cannot at least win a wildcard game, then your not as good as advertised. Bottom line.
I will go a step further. If you are talking about Player Of The Year............If you are not in the IFL bowl, then you shouldn't even be considered for POTY. To me, thats an easy decision. A TRUE POTY will lead his team, regardless of position, to the IFL bowl.

I didn't catch the due date for these awards, but I sure hope it's the week before the IFL bowl, because I cannot, in good faith, cast my votes untill I see the players who can truly play at their best, when it matters most.

I dont take postseason into account when i do my awards. I feel that they should represent the regular season. But thats just my opinion.
        I luv British womenz.

Playoffs shouldn't really be taken into account for ANY of these awards.

I agree with Jeff. These are regular season awards based upon the 16 games that every player has the opportunity to play in.

No offense, but it occured to me, none of you made the playoffs this year, so naturally, you have no reason to give a shit. I felt that way last year because, fuck it, I felt I had outstanding players (Allmon) who deserved the award despite us not making the playoffs.

Regardless, I stand behind my original post. POTY at least. You cannot even consider a guy whose team doesn't at least make the IFL bowl.

So Peyton Manning should never have won an MVP then?

For what? Him, and his team got jacked when it mattered most. Who gives a fuck what he did during the regular season, he was watching the Superbowl. Lame.

it's a regular season based award. A guy plays good in the mperial Bowl then he wins the Imperial Bowl MVP award.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

I guess with that logic Randle El should be the NFL MVP since he did throw a TD in the Super Bowl.

Doesn't have to be big injuries, could just be someone that had an off season (Wheat) or performed well in a starting role again after being a back-up (Lomeli). Some possibilities:

                              QB Jared Mulcahy CBA
                              QB Jerome Mueller PIT

                              RB Gaston Lomeli OAK
                              RB Wilford Timmerman HOU
                              RB Kelly Wheat AQU
                              TE Scott Ginn ORL

...and probably a bunch more, but yeah, this award would have to be pimped.

I think that is what we're trying to get across with Breakout Player of the Year. Maybe the wording needs to be changed to Breakthrough or something. Breakout, to me at least, doesn't imply anything about a guy's age.
