  • IFL DB Data gathering

I am continuing development on the IFL DB. I am using 2006 for test data, but I would like to see if I can add historical data as well.

The big question is what is available?

So, for those folks who horde old stage files, let me know what you got.

For instance, who has the orginal 2003 begin season stage files?

I am also looking for a list of the expansion draft, all 53 rounds.

So for each year, 2003-2005, I am looking for the following stages

    1. Begin Season - Retirements
    2. Staff Hiring - All three stages
    3. Tag Stage - Just Tags
    4. Pre FA Stage - for renegs and cuts
    5. FA Stage - for all FA stages - I could split up, but not sure it is needed
    6. Draft Stage - Only draft transactions
    7. Late FA & Pre TC Cuts
    8. Ex Week 1 - includes cuts from 70 to 60
    9. Ex Week 2
    10. Ex Week 3
    11. Ex Week 4
    12. Ex Week 5
    13. Week 1 - includes cut down from 60-53
    14. Week 2
    15. Week 3
    16. Week 4
    17. Week 5
    18. Week 6
    19. Week 7
    20. Week 8
    21. Week 9
    22. Week 10
    23. Week 11
    24. Week 12
    25. Week 13
    26. Week 14
    27. Week 15
    28. Week 16
    29. Week 17
    30. Wild Card
    31. Conf Semi
    32. Conf Finals
    33. Championship

If you have 1 or some of the stages in question, let me know so I can mark it off on my list. Thanks for the help!

-I've mentioned this to you before, but I'm probably the only guy that has anything from 2003 - but I've got a lot.

-Cringer has some of 2004 archived (I think), but I'm not sure how much. The early part of 2004 (including the offseason) is probably lost.

-Everything in 2005 is archived (or should be).

-No such list for the original allocation draft exists.

I got 2003 PO's from 10/30/2004 and 11/01/2004 for some reason - not like the Mules were involved or anything.

It never hurts to ask, and Lawrence stepped up big time. . .

What do you have for 2003?

So we are missing the 2004 off season and preseason

For the offfseason, all I really need is a pre draft file that I can extract the rookies from

And I have a gameday file OR a midweek file from every regular season week. Think there is only one week where I don't have a gameday file, but I have the midweek and it has the boxscores and logs. Also have the gameday files for each playoff weeks.

Also noticed that I have a miscellaneous 2004 free agency stage (part of the "Kobeck files".. sorry, Chris ). In that file is the 2004 draft preview.

Gonna be needing the files soon?

It sucks to say but I got a hankering for a football sim that makes me believe it's doing a little more than spitting out random results and FOF lost my faith a long time ago (including the wins for anyone who might think I'm crying sour grapes over losing) so I'd hate to leave with files you might need....

FYI - This isn't a coded "I'm leaving the league as of now" messege. Just a possible overabundance of info for roadrash.

Yeah, as much as I shake my head with the game sometimes, I can at least see why most things happen. Heck, given enough time you can really do wonders with the game plan if you know what you're doing.

Granted, you still need to have good players.

I can but choose not to mention some as there is nothing to come from stating so ("something to come" to me would be the game being made to reflect the ratings) and yet quite the possibility of offending other GM's in the league who take the win/loss results as a direct representation of how they've set up their gameplan.

One of which I've already posted though: The fact I set my gameplan MANY times to throw ZERO long passes yet watch the game-log post my 40+ yard failed attempts... even on the 1st play of the game... TWICE!! And I've heard the argument that we have coaches, blah, blah, blah, but it's one or the other to me: ratings that matter or coaches that matter. If the coach is going to override my gameplan then I shouldn't waste time setting it.

And the fact that my QB who has almost a full rating of 100 in avoiding INTs just threw FOUR!! Now I will certainly debate against a generic "avoiding INT" rating but if you're going to have it in the game then a perfect score in that rating should equivilate to ZERO interceptions.

And the fact that with starting positions set to 9 for playing time I've seen (again, MANY times) my back-up playing the 2nd play of the game!!

Well, the times the game follows the game plan. I can see a weakness on a defensive line (say the left side for example), try and run more towards that side, and see the final results like:

                              Run Breakdown:
                              Left - 3 att
                              Middle - 10 att
                              Right - 9 att

Not only that, I love when the game decides to sit my best back (with a playing time for 9) for the rest of a qtr after 1 carry without letting me know of an injury or any other reason. Timmerman got the 1st carry and I didn't see his name until the 2nd qtr. Maybe the game has 'out for 2 qtr' type of injuries, but it would be nice if it told us so we didn't think the game was making a mistake.

I'm not exactly sure of the issues Lawrence has with the game, but i've noticed some weird things about it. It's frustrating, but most games are at some point so I don't let it get to me too much.. only right after I lose
