I trust Cringer's judgement. Period. I don't really have a big opinion either way.

The only issue is I have is when a guy is drafted at NT and I run a 4-3. I'm now fucked because I can't change his position.

That is a flaw that you cannot change a DE to DT very easily. If we do a weight increase it should be the same for every player. Like a flat 30 lb increase. So, the 250 lb DT would still be light for his position at 280. That way not all DT's are suddenly monsters. I think in the NFL it is the DE's that have the most disparity in size because of the rush end specialists. Most DT's are big or you move to end. I have no problem doing it now that I understand the problem more.

Right now I'm leaning towards voting no simply because I don't know what the advantages or disadvantages are of either vote. I understand that some GM's want to move players to another position, but is there really an advantage over say playing that player out of position? Sorry for the newbie questions.

You could do something like this i guess food for thought:

          250 +30
          260 +20
          270 +15
          280 +10

          just a rough idea...

Yes, that is what I was talking about. That makes more sense.

The more I think about it the more it doesn't really matter to me if we continue to use TCY files...

The way I see it though, that is one of the limitations to running the 3-4 in the NFL is the lack of proper nose tackles. Not every DT can make the move to NT. Look at Warren Sapp, when he moved to NT (or vice versa), he sucked, then Oakland changed the defense and he got closer to his old form.

Now, granted, initially I misread what the original question was, but I still stand by my decision, no.

Another item, just because all your DTs go down, does not mean you can't move your DE inside. You just can't change his permanent position there. Heck, I played Bryce Tan all year "out of position" according to the game and had no real noticeable decrease in his production.

Thank you to everyone who responded to this.

I went ahead and adjusted the weights for DT's only. And not all of them. Under 280 was given extra weight, especially the 5 guys who weighed 250.

I have to run now, but that is the word for now. I will go into more detail tonight.
