See, this is an example of a joke-of-a-setup. The least amount of money you are gonna spend here is $60. Setup fees are ridiculous. Getting 50 gigs of bandwidth with every package is also pretty fishy. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved people around depending on how much bandwidth they actually end up using.

It's advertising, no way around a company trying to sell their product by advertising the lowest price they can. However, I have been with them for 2 years now. Its one of the easiest companies to work with, any problems, just get on the chat, and 99/100 they can solve the issue right then and there. It's going to run you $60-100 bucks, but you get what you pay for. No adds, no problems, consistent............it's load up and forget it, it's honestly that easy.

A couple of things I want, off the top of my head, 1 GB of storage space atleast.

Bandwidth is not too big of a deal, although I wonder how Vito's web pages would use up if he gets things working how he wants? 10 GB atleast, but more the better.

Dedicated IP would be nice, just noticed you have to pay more for that at GoDaddy.


To Jeff, I had hoped you would know that any move to another host would take into account the support services. That has been one of my big problems with this host even if I don't always say so.

Anyways, we have 3 months of service here again, since I just paid for that. I figured that should be a decent time frame to do this. I do not want to move, I fucking dread it really because it is going to be a major pain in my ass. Shit, we had stuff moved for us when we switched servers with this host and that still sucked.

You should always have the option of going on a month-by-month basis. Setup fees are totally bogus. They are only there to trick people into going with the longer plans. Setting up new accounts on servers takes approx. 5-10 minutes.

Looking around, I am actually fighting myself from saying screw it, I got it covered myself. Prices seem to have dropped a decent amount from last year when I was looking around. I know the host we are on now is $10 less a year for the plan we have, and I am finding several plans that I could easily pay for myself.

I was worried I was getting up into the $100 range for what I wanted....

This virtual hosting site was recommended by a very wise man from FOFC, Simms (who runs thefobl.com and thefofl.com). Their hosting numbers make sense and it might even be worth a 1-year gamble. You could always PM Simms at FOFC for more info.

I can't stress enough how the storage and bandwidth numbers should be ignored after a certain point. You need to decide what you need and cut it off at that. There are tons of these overly cheap hosting sites that will offer you an inflated amount (25+ gigs) of bandwidth BECAUSE they know you will never use that much. If and once you do they will move you over to a less reliable server. Plus, if one company says they will give you 5 gigs of storage and 50 gigs of bandwidth then another company will offer the same things just to stay in competition.

Damn, I have a dedicated linux box. If you get in a jam and really need a server, I dont' think it would be that hard to convert this to linux though, since the board is php, but not sure what you use for the upload.
