    very interesting article Argot!!

took someone who has been in the league for so many years to have the knowledge to write this.

the guys are correct. I did select Kennedy by accident at 1.2 after trading with someone. BOSS seems to have that one locked in. TBH, i don't remember how i got the pick. I recall trying to copy Jester's strategy of trading current picks for future picks in order to get that flexibility. I won the lottery with that pick.
When i say i drafted Kennedy by accident, it's actually true. Kennedy was a no combine guy who looked like he might be pretty good. I had him in my list to draft with my late 1st rnd pick. I was doing something and shit my pants when i saw that the utility drafted Kennedy. he was not a sure thing. As it turns out, Kennedy would not have lasted to late in the 1st rnd as there was atleast 3 or 4 guys that said they would have drafted him. I tried to convince TimG to trade me the #1 pick so that I could draft WR Mathis, but he was having none of it. Wish i could remember who the guy was that i wanted to draft before Kennedy.......

I remember you pulling the trigger on him and it was way early but it was by accident. You were like oh well, lets see how he pans out and the rest is history. He would have went 1st round for sure but it would have been way lower most likely. That might have been the best shit of your life.

You probably wanted the DE Ron "The Big Panda" Cheung that went 1.3.

That's interesting because Cheung was mine. He was the "best" player in the draft. I was shocked that he fell to me at 3.

best surprise pick ever, that's for sure.

Drafted a guy by the name of Conrad Fisk in the RNFL that was pretty awesome too. Probably had better stats than Kennedy

I can't remember if I wanted Cheung or not. sounds right, because we could've used a stud DE, but that goes against my philosophy of taking offense over defense all the time!

This is probably why I've never won a Championship. I love defense too much and it clouds my judgment.

well, my theory goes like this.

you want the ball on offense. so you need to have players on your team that make sure that you're scoring and controlling the ball so that you're on offense more than the other team. Ideally, you play defense only because you have to.

Matt is one of the last of the original IFL general managers. The Bulldogs boast the highest playoff appearance percentage, missing the playoffs only 9 years over a 33 year span. They have the most IFL appearances with 7. Consistency has always been Matt's forte. He doesn't ever seem to have rebuilding years, and I don't think I've ever seen him have a fire sale. In addition, I'm not sure he's ever had a first round pick in the top 5? Our researchers will get on that.
Alan Crespo was taken by Matt first overall in 2005. Dakota took a kicker in the second round that year, so maybe you've purposefully blocked that draft out of your mind

I did make a bunch of deals to move up to 1.1 in order to draft Crespo. My favorite fake football player of all time!

Ironic about the Calgary Chinnook being the first nickname for the Calgary franchise. I used to crew Army Chinook helicopters from 1978-1981. Was crewing Chinook 521 in 1980 when we went down in the Grand Canyon Forest. Helicopter destroyed, banged up a bit, and now that I'm in my sixties...the dang scars from that crash are adding up. The Army named all their helicopters after Indian tribes: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Chinook. The SP on Chinnook isn't memorialized anywhere, so I'm thinking it was a typo on the original owner's part, or intentional brand misdirection.

Reading stuff like like this makes me appreciate the many years I’ve spent here.
